The GF is bringing her laptop over to my place and she wants to connect to my internet wirelessly. Problem is, I only have the regular cable modem that has the cable from the wall hooked into it, and then runs a cable to my PC from.

Do I just need to go to store and pickup a wireless router, hook it up to the cable modem and I will have wireless internet? Or what would I need to do to have it work directly for my PC, as well as wirelessly to her laptop?

you could go get a wireless router....20-40 bux
or you could activate ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) and buy a crossover cable.

Basically the answer to your question is yes.

You may need to register the WiFi AP with your Internet Provider.
