Quoted: Quoted: I got a chance to catch them at CBGBs back in the 80s. IIRC they were playing with Bio-Hazzard and couple of other bands. You lucky bastard. The one time I got to go to CBGBs there was a crappy fucking emo bad playing. This was back at the height of the New York Hard Core scene, so they usually had lots of good shows going on. |

Meh - I never really got into the toughguy / skinhead 80's HC stuff.
DID just see THIS BAND last night and dug it.

-Mike So, you're into the toughguy / gutteral-metal-singer-or-whatever 00's stuff?
ETA: Not busting on you xmikex, just funny how what's "tough" or "hard" changes over time. Back in the day, bands like Agnostic Front, Minor Threat and the Cro Mags were about the hardest thing you could hope to find. |

-Mike Sounds like a good time! I'd never heard of those guys before but I've seen BraceWar and Cruel Hand a few times.I'm very envious of the guys in Cruel Hand's black SVO CUCV,that's a sweet freakin' truck. |

I'm not the biggest fan of AF or SOIA,Murphy's Law etc but still give those guys lots of credit. I got into hXc listening to Minor Threat,Judge,Chain of Strength,Turning Point etc and then made it through the tough guy 90's still without a single tattoo or piercing-amazingly.Now,I'm just an old guy. Minor Threat's Complete Discography is still as close to an aural bible as it gets for me.The point and purpose of all of those songs still hold up and considering they were just kids when they wrote 'em,it's even more awesome. The Age of Quarrel is one of the best records of all time."We Gotta Know" is one of those songs that is just perfect. If I had to do a top 3 all time hXc records ever,I'd take those 2 and throw in Bad Brains' Rock for Light. My top 5 favorites would be different but in terms of what are the most important I think those 3 might do it. |

Nothing has changed since that song came out in 1986... Only gotten worse! |

I grew up listening to Bad brains, minir threat, Agnostic Front, SOIA, etc. We had a good hardcore scen in Atlanta with Acto of Faith, Crisis Under Control, The Difference, Etc. We also had a great Oi! scene which i later got into after highschool with the likes of Anti-Heros, Jack The Lad etc. Then we had bands like Terminus City,Adolph and the Piss Artists, etc. We were probably THE bright spot for American Oi! during the 90ts with frank at Crash and Burn selling everything skinhead, us along with New York with the Templars, Oxblood, etc. I still have all those records with some real rare ones and test pressings.
Ahh the good old days. |

I drove down, went to college in NC, and saw The Business and Warzone in I think 93 or 94. It was the first show I ever went to that required a frisking before getting in the door but in hindsight, the buzz cut and BDU's did make hXc kids of the time look like 88's
There's a great band from Atlanta right now - Foundation - you might want to try if you like 90's style 'core. |

Bad Brains is still my fav hardcore band of all time. Followed by Cro-Mags and Minor Threat. Never got to see Minor Threat , but saw Fugazi a good deal. So jealous. I can't think of a single band I would have rather seen live than Fugazi. Jay Jawbox played on Jimmy Kimmel a few weeks ago for the first time in forever.Them with Fugazi and 7 Seconds was one of the best shows of the 90's for me. Uh,yeah,I'm a punk and hardcore junkie.I like guns but I LOVE music. |
