I was talking to my friend who is a big wig with a major insurance company. The insurance industry (not my friend) is looking into having OSHA or a simular agency inspect all homes prior to insuring. They want to go as far as federal regulations on fire exstinguishers, ladders, tools and even dangerous item storage to incude paint, ammunition, firearms, cleaming supplies ect. If you dont pass you dont get insured plus they want annual visits with the option to drop coverage if you arent in compliance. You would be treated like a buisness. It would be like zoning but on a federal level. Of course the cost would be passed down to the home owner. bradys will jump on it because it would be a form of gun control in the name of safety I'm sure.

Large safe and bigger truck for the ammo (24K+ rounds). It'll take some effort to get all the ammo in the truck for the inspection but it'll be done...

FBO!

Insurance company "A" does this.  Maybe, companies "B" and "C" do it, too.

Company "D" does not, runs a bunch of commercials about how "Freedom Friendly" they are, they steal a ton of business from the others.

Idiot other companies quietly fire CEO's and do away with policy.

AND, I am in the industry.

If you read your mortgage/refinance Terms and Conditions - you'll probably find clauses restricting the storage of dangerous materials/substances (including explosives, flammable and toxic).  Don't leap to the conclusion that you haven't ALREADY agreed to such restriction under your own signature.

They are not "freedom friendly" (except in the hypothetical commercials).  They are "money friendly".  And, they have lawyers, too.

Good way to get some folks shot, IMHO.

So, if you self insure, you can tell  them to go fuck themselves.

I don't think this is feasible from a cost and time stand point.

I understand what you are saying, the problem is that if "safety inspections" become a standard in a few companies then if you dont use them you have created a liability. at least in a lawyers eyes. it could be a can of worms.

Good luck getting an insurance company to recognize you as an insurer, especially if you have a mortgage.
