I bought a secondhand 8gb Ipod today, and don't know much about them.  My wife has a 30gb with iTunes on her computer, but my computer is set up for my Zune.  Anyway, if I load this Ipod on my computer, will it keep the songs that are currently on the there and automatically save to iTunes?  Also, will plugging this contraption up to my computer automatically load the iTunes program?

NO

if it has music on it and you sync it with itunes on a machine that does not have the songs it will remove them from your Ipod

go to apple.com and install itunes

BUT FIRST

find a utility like CopyPod to let you pull the music off it.

Ok, what if I just load it on my wife's computer, which has iTunes downloaded?

It's spelled "iPod".
