Anyone use an oil extractor for oil changes? I can't seem to find one that doesn't have mixed reviews. Some don't hold up to synthetic oils. I would love some suggestions.

Yes.  The ones that work on vacuum are best as they do not have the oil seal issues.  And the MityVac one is the best as long as you have a good compressor to power it.

I need it for my TDI to get all the old oil out of the filter housing.  Then I just shove the tube down the middle of the filter housing to get the rest.  No need to get under the vehicle, sucks it clean in about 3 minutes.

All of the ones I saw worked by creating a vaccuum with a hand pump. Are there some that you just have to keep pumping or something?

Mightyvac is one of the brands I ran across that had problem with synthetics eating seals. It wasn't the model that used a compressor though. I have a compressor so that won't be a problem for me if I have to go that route. I just thought one of the hand pump models would be more reliable.

This is the Mightyvac I was looking at where the reviews said that synthetics eat the seals.
