I had to be a work at 4 a.m to start my day on my truck route. had to  manipulate some cargo securing bar clamps.   it was a pain in the ass trying to do it in my gloves so I took them off to do the work. It was  5 below  and my  hands developed a burning sensation from the aluminum.      Even after I finally put my gloves back on and got my hands warmed they still burned.   Now the pads of my fingers are slightly numb but still sting noticeably .

Is there something i can do to alleviate the pain and get rid of the numbness?

If frost bitten warm in barely warm water realy slowly.

Anything that is frost bitten never comes back to what it was and is more susceptible to it.
