I intended to send my 1911 to a smith to get some upgrades installed. There are two funshops in town, one is run by a bunch of arrogant assholes that price gouge, the other is staffed by nice guys that charge a fair price. So, I obviously go to the nice guys to handle the shipping of my pistol because I don't want to screw with it myself. Good idea, isn't it?
Apparently not. The funshop has had my pistol for two weeks. Two MOTHER FUCKING WEEKS and it apparently hasn't shipped. The guy that was going to be doing the work contacts me and tells me the pistol hasn't arrived. I call the funshop this morning. The guy I talk to says I need to wait until tomorrow when the guy I handed my gun too is working so he can tell me what in the fuck is going on. In short, this fucking gunshop has succeeded in losing a $400 pistol and a $357 money order. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How fucking hard is it to ship a pistol? And furthermore, how fucking hard is it to look around and find my gun that you fucking lost? WTF?!?!!?!!? I know it's inconvenient to stop what you're doing and search for my pistol, but IT'S PRETTY DAMNED INCONVENIENT FOR ME TO HAVE LOST AN EXPENSIVE FIREARM AND $357 CASH BECAUSE OF YOUR FUCKING INCOMPENTENCE. I should've gone to the arrogant assholes. THEY at least are good at handling transfers in a timely manner. Fuck. FUCK!!!! If I could, I'd piss on their brain for LOSING MY FUCKING GUN!!! FUCK THEM |

Why didn't you just ship it yourself? Because I don't want to fuck with Fedex or UPS shipping a handgun. I also can't take a day off work to do it. I've done it twice with FedEx up here in evil MD and never had a problem. Just include a copy of their FFL and you're all set. |

As in, it ain't gonna happen. |

Why didn't you just ship it yourself? Stole the question from my fingers. Pop it in a box, run down to the local UPS hub, it's gone in under fifteen minutes, enroute to wherever it needs to be. There's just too many idle hands in the loop sending your gun in for work the way you did it. I work too, but for a gun that I care enough about that I'm going to get professional work done on it, I can find an hour or so between the hours of 0800 and 2000 to get my baby where she needs to be. Good luck though. I hope it works out and you get your gun back. I'd be pissed too. |

This ain't exactly something that's going to get left on my front door step and getting it delivered to my office where I work, which is another state, is a bad idea. I can't take a day off work to receive a package. I CAN go to the funshop in the evening after work when they call me and tell me it's ready to pick up. |

It will have to ship back to the FFL, where you can pick it up after work, no matter how it's shipped out. I ship out everything from the local UPS store. Takes all of 10 minutes. I can even grab a burger on the way back to work. If you work half an hour outside of town I can see your quandry, but even so, just ask the boss for an extra hour at lunchtime because you need to go to UPS. |

That box has camera parts in it......... I don't play that game. If you feel comfortable doing it that way, more power to you. Also, the fact that there's a big "Smith And Wesson" plastered on the case would probably give the ruse away

No it doesn't have to be returned to an FFL if it's going to a gunsmith to be worked on. As long as the gunsmith is a licensed gunsmith, he can send it directly back to the owner's address, no intermeadiate FFL needed. Same thing as warranty work. Send something to Taurus, and they send it right back to you, no FFL in the loop. Send your own gun to a gunsmith and they can send it right back to you. Buy a gun from the same gunsmith, and it has to go through a local FFL. It was the OP's cohoice to add the local FFL into the equation. |

And never, ever use a gun shop for anything you don't have to. They will find a way to screw it up, or charge you money. |

Whoever steals this guys package is going to be pissed when it's a Rock Island Armory in the box instead of a Smith and Wesson. |
