Who says you cant find anything decent at a gunshow? I picked up the attached for $25 yesterday. Makes a handsome addition to my reloading bench and man cave.

sweet find.

I got a 105 from the Canadians back in the day. Mine was for a tank though.

Gotta love brass!!

Does Lyman make a mold for it?

yeah, i kind of wondered about that. I'm guessing the primer fires and heats the shit out of the "boner" which ignites the shit load of powder in the case. Otherwise it would take a fucking hot as magnum primer to touch off all the slow burning powder this bitch will hold.

perhpas someone more knowledgable about artillary munitions will chime in and set the record straight.....

Does the rod have holes in it??

A tank round had holes in the rod for the explosives to leech out of for lack of a better term on my part.

Cause I was a tanker involved in a NATO tank competition and stole it from them

Its a flash tube.  The flash tube is filled with black powder and is easily ignited by the primer. The flash from the black powder makes sure the main propellant charge ignites, even at extremely low temperature.

yes I do..... Shipping  from IN would be pricey.

They guy did have a 155 projectile (sans powder and fuse) that he wanted $100 for. I thought about it but with it missing the fuse on top it looked kind of incomplete. If it had even in inert something on top I may have bought it.

Another pic with some common items to provide scale:

left to right: .45 ACP, .223 , .50 Beowlf, .308

yes, it has a column of small holes up 2 sides of the flash tube. Does this mean its from a tank versus a howitzer? What does the M14 designation indicate on the headstamp. Anyway of telling what sort of round was loaded in it?

I see these at swap meets for around $25 - $30 thats about the average price

one time I saw one about the size of a basketball size in diameter, not sure what gun it went to

There is $25 in brass in that......

According to Sharp's classic work on reloading, a powder column ignited closer to the projectile produces higher velocity at lower pressure and more consistant results.
