| What is the going rate for M44s? Where is the best place online to find one at a good price? |
|
Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Century Arms may have M38s.....havent seen many 44s around I am not totally in the know on these-is a 38 the same length as the 44? I want a carbine length one. I believe so, they just don't have the bayonet. M38 and M44 are just like the 91/30's but shorter (carbine). And the M44 has the side folding bayonet. |

I have a 38. I don't think you can add a bayo later. Also I think on the 44's the bayo has to be extended to shoot more accurately? or is this Internet lore? Most of them do experience POI shift when the bayo is deployed vs. folded. Most would have been calibrated so that they hit POA with the bayonet deployed. Some do not see this shift, but I'd expect it. |

That's an M38 and there are plenty of those still around. RF |
| I would bet you can find one on gunbroker or auctionarms if nothing else. Aim has Hex 91/30s and Round receiver 91/30s for cheap. They shoot the same 7.62x54R round as the carbines. |

Out of Stock |

That's my "Local Gun Store" But now that they finally have some in stock I don't have any money to spend. |

Where? |

Here's a list of C&R dealers, but the OP might have to do some research: http://www.cruffler.com/links.html#C-RFirearms |

The M38 would probably work with a 91/30 bayonet, but not the folding M44 bayonet that attaches to a lug on the barrel. M44's were sighted in at the factory with the bayonet extended, firing with the bayonet folded changes the point of impact of the bullet. |

I got my 2 M38's from here:
http://www.gunsnammo.com/ At the time, 2 years ago, they were $110 ea, with pouches, clean eq, oil bottle etc. Beautiful shape. 1950's refurbs. You may have to email to see what's in stock. |

Same length. http://i48.tinypic.com/2ijk94o.jpg And like others have said, the only difference is the bayonet. http://i49.tinypic.com/wan67s.jpg And yes my M38 is in a M44 stock. It started out as a barreled action that my FIL gave me and I could not find a M38 stock to go on it. Beautiful stock on that M38. |

I've been thinking about putting it on my M44, it was made in 1948 and has a very nice finish on it. |

There's every possibility that is was exported in one. |
