Computer peeps, I needs dah halpz!! ![]() I have an old HP Pavilion a1330n desktop PC, and have been struggling for years with only 1 GB of memory for the damn thing. The machine takes PC3200 DDR SDRAM 184 pin DIMMs, at least according to what I've read online. I want to put 4 gigs in the damn thing so I can be good for gaming for at least a couple of years. I know it has 4 slots, and you have to split up the memory amongst the four slots, so I will have to trash the two 512mb modules in the machine and replace them with 4 x 1GB modules. Question is: Low density or high density? What's the diff, anyway? |

MB probably won't take more than about 2 GB....
Keep the sticks you have in there and get another pair of them. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010170147%201052308476%201052407862&name=DDR%20400%20%28PC%203200%29 |

No amount of memory is going to make a single core Athlon 64 desktop with DDR memory be a game worthy PC for a couple of years. Your bottleneck is that CPU. In fact, there have been games out for a while now that require a dual core CPU or better to run. Sorry, but as a gaming rig that machine's day is done. |

Your machine will probably only handle low density anyway considering the age. your 4 slots are 2 banks of 2 so buy 2 1gb sticks from crucial for 80 bucks and put yourself to 3gb and then use it till it dies. keep in mind that all memory on the bus will clock down to the speed of the slowest mem sticks. |
