I am a security specialist in a gated community. Lately we have been having breakins in one section of the neighborhood. The officer in charge wants to issue small canisters of Mace to the three of us and rent a golf cart from the local golf range. I feel this is not enough security and suggested hiring more specialists and posting two at each entrance with 14.5 inch M4s with collapsing stocks, and having constant armed patrols around the area. The officer in charge says this is unconventional and to expensive. My question is, would issue CAR-15s with 16in barrels be less expensive and more conventional than 14.5 M4s? He doesnt understand that there is alot at risk here and mace is not strong enough, especially for stopping cars and bicycles. |

This guy is no Troll, He is the reincarnation of the MALL NINJA!! I can't wait for the next post.... maybe he will be looking a body armor, and ninja claws! How 'bout a belt-fed for the back of the golf cart? That ought to make the theives on bicycles pee their shorts...hee,hee.... [8D] |

M4's are only available for the Mall Ninja. Neighborhood Watch Ninjas are only entitled to double barreled, beltfed, full-auto Lorcins. If you have too much problem subduing a suspect from the golf cart with one of those, you can always call for fire support from the Neighborhood Watch AC130. [:)] Edited to add - Damn Grock, beat me to it! |

What are those little faces? i do not know what you mean by captain o or mall ninja? We do not need M203 launchers because ammunition is to expensive and hard to come by. I am no amateur, i have been providing security since january. I went through police training in Alabama but did not complete it because they found out i have a prothetic leg. |

Did you mean prosthetic leg, or pathetic leg? Edited to add: I went back and read this, and it sounded pretty bad without referencing the above (left, right, or middle). :-( This applies to the TROLL only!!! Edited again, cause I kent speel. |
| WOW! what a cool place to build a concealed holster bay! You could get a spring mechanism to pop out the weapon from your Plastic leg just like Robo-Cop!! Then you could also implant an small PC and GPS and moving map, with a heads up display output for situational awareness projected on the visor of your modified riot helmet!! |
| get some m4's with some night vision scopes. this is a good site [http://www.active-night-vision.com/]. go there to get some. then set up people in gillie suits around the area which is getting broken into. i recomend getting class3 too so you can get silcencers therefore you dont have to wake up the entire hood. ok thats my $.02 good luck. go w/ bushmaster! |

I will consider the silencers and gillie suits, but the night vision is a little out of our price range. Does anyone know where i can purchase land mines or claymores to protect non-designated entrances so we do not have to post gaurds? (good detective work, DonR. didnt think anyone would look at my IP. would you like a job doing neighborhood security?) |

SecOf-- The M-16 series of rifles is somewhat inadequate for the job you are specifying. A .223 or even a .308 is more than adequate to keep someones head down in a serious firefight, but is limited to line of sight. What if your suspect actually gets into a house? The .223 and .308 rounds are normally too small to penetrate the walls and retain sufficient accuracy and power to take out the suspect. My suggestion would be for a small group of elite security personnel. Divide the group as such-For the commander, who will also work the radio if backup is needed, he should have an MP-5 (preferably in the Supressed SD version-in case you have to take out a sentry): Two of the members should have Barrett M-82's--they are more than adequate to shoot through walls if necessary: The final member should have one of these mounted on a rapid response vehicle. It is ideal for taking out the suspect if they get behind any significant cover that even the Barrett cannot get through: I suggested each of these specific firearms for a reason. If you or your chief will write a letter--preferably on letterhead--expressing the need for neighborhood security (occasionaly, a little name dropping if there are any celebrities in your neighborhood doesn't hurt). Send a copy to the US State Department, Heckler and Koch, GMBH in Germany, Barrett in Tennessee, and the Treasury department of ATF, you can frequently get a variance letter from the government offices, and a "lend-lease" on the equipment (Colt doesn't do a lend-lease, which is why I would tend to skip the M-4) for testing purposes. Net cost to you--the stamps for the letters, and the ammo you would need (the HK GMG comes with 500 grenades--HE, AP, WP mixed unless you specify a different configuration). One caveat--if you are having a problem with Girl Scouts in the neighborhood, you may wish to consider switching or adding a Combat Shotgun loaded with #11 shot for increased spread. Those green suited (perfect camoflage against the landscaping--did you really think it was accidental?), cookie selling (attempting to poison America via slow occlusion of the arteries) icons of Evil are too small and quick for the Barrett to hit them with anything but a lucky shot. A #11 shot will work every time (make sure the Brownies don't get behind you first). |
| where are you located, maybe for a small (minimum wage) you can hire me to stand out there with my 20"bushy and i can guard too. where is it located? i can do the job. if you want to get some police lights for your golf carts let me know. i am in the business of selling them here and there in my spare time. but seriously if your fairly close to me, i will work. well long as i get to bring a gun ehehehe. Well, suggestions from all members are great. You need to ask this gated community people money to build 4 to 5 high guard towers to detect any burglars ahead of time, and M60 is needed in each tower to prevent an army of burglars. While you are at it, electric-installed high fence is needed with claymores to protect the perimeter.[:D] |
| Security specialist with a AR. Think of the liability of having poorly trained people carrying AR-15's, pepper spray is the best choice besides a security specialist job is to observe and report, THAT'S ALL. You don't want the responsibility of carrying a weapon, it is much more than looking cool and pointing it at people. |
| Why would u need a M4 and CAR15 for neighborhood patrol? Even street cops dont carry guns like that. How about rent-a-cop in charge get a 12 gauge and rest of you peons get a night stick. I live in a gated community in Los Angeles with armed patrol. Even they carry handguns, not assault rifles. |

Even they carry handguns, not assault rifles. trust me, in the security business, you need all the advantage you can get. if that means having a FA M4, claymores and grenades, as well as a double complement of body armor, then so be it. This goes for mall, gated communities, and public swimming pools-wherever danger threatens the innocent. When you put your life on the line for others, you don't leave your own sucess to chance. These kinds of dedicated operatives are further expounded upon at www.MallNinja.com Press on, Security Officer! Don't let the unbeleiving naysayers foil you in your quest for the safety of the masses you oversee. Gecko45 |

Quoted: SecOf-- Going to have to disagree as the HK Grenade Launcher would make the "rapid response vehicle", in this case a golf cart (rented no less) top heavy and ill-handling. Not to mention that the recoil might make it do wheelies... |

I'd go low budget, but effective; like a perimeter of leashed rabid badgers or armor plated snapping turtles. Might just have to go with angry dog pound inmates if you live in an area where badgers and snapping turtles are scarce or in high demand. |
