The large pic may be resized here. Link will take you to the large sized image if desired. Isn't the color of the plane from that super expensive paint I read about somewhere?
Hi Res goodness Link Make Mine Big Edit for caption: The second Lockheed Martin F-35B short takeoff/vertical landing stealth fighter arrives at the Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Md., test site on Dec. 29. Maj. Joseph T. "O.D." Bachmann piloted the aircraft nonstop from Lockheed Martin's Fort Worth, Texas, plant to Patuxent River, successfully completing aerial refueling en route.

Quoted: Doesn't need one. With the Helment Mounted Display and Electro Optical Distributed Aperture System, the pilot has IR-enhanced synthetic vision in spherical coverage around the jet. In other words, he can "see through" the jet's structure. No bubble canopy? |

Actually, the other thread is the dupe. ![]() |

...Isn't the color of the plane from that super expensive paint I read about somewhere? It's a polyurethane top coat. There are probably two or three shades of gray. It's expensive, but it's not the RAM paint you probably read about. RAM is polyurethane with an iron additive. The RAM is not visible. |

For those of you who think that picture is photoshopped.... ....you might be right. I spent too much time looking at the large version of that pic and there ARE some aspects of that photo that don't look right. OK, I'll write off the odd, unnatural sheen of the paint because they may be using a paint type that has interesting optical properties that I don't know anything about. But look at the angle of the shadow from the wing on the vertical stabilizer. Then look at the larger buildings on the ground and their shadows. To determine the sun angle, draw a line from the corner of a building to its corresponding corner on its shadow. Now look at the angle of the line you just drew, and envision where the sun is based on what you've seen. Now look at that wing shadow on the vertical stabilizer. Does the angle of that shadow look right to you? It does not appear to be right to me. That wing shadow looks like it would be appropriate if the sun were more close to directly behind the viewer's vantage point. I would expect that shadow to come closer to climbing up the stabilizer at an angle near the leading edge angle of the stabilizer. But the stabilizer is canted outward. This will change the apparent angle of the shadow. The plane also has an "I'm in front of the picture, not in it" character to it. I'm not typically a skeptic, really, but there's something not quite right about that photo. CJ |

JTFC some of you guys are ridiculous. Shades of the sharpshooter on a rooftop photo and faked in photoshop claims.
