Posted this in Handgun forums...but I didn't get much info...

Just bought a new Sig P229 in 9mm.

It's my first Sig, and I noticed it has a loose EJECTOR. #32 on the picture below (I think). By loose, I mean it wiggles side to side slightly. Not sure if this is normal or not, and if I need to tighten it somehow. Thanks for any help.

I put 200 rnds through it without a hitch, and it was great...but I am wondering about this loose ejector...the one on my Glock is rock solid (because it's molded into the frame, unlike the Sig).

Any ideas?

Supposedly since the Kimber guy took over SIG has been going down hill with quality. Old SIGs up through the early to mid 2000s are awesome. I personally would be very apprehensive about buying a new one today.

Well other than the slightly wiggly ejector, everything else is top notch quality. The fit and finish of all the parts, the smooth trigger pull, everything. Extremely accurate as well.

I am sure I can tighten the ejector, it seems to be sandwiched between other metal pieces of the frame assembly, but I am not sure...it may be how it's supposed to be.

I'm not sure about that. I'm not a Sig expert, but none of my Sigs have ever had a loose ejector that I can remember. I'd certainly keep an eye on it.

When you shoot are you noticing inconsistent ejection?

Well, I know jack crap so here goes.

Is there a screw holding the ejector in place? Is the screw loose? Tighten the screw.

It should be a pin and not a screw...unless Sig has made more radical changes than I thought.

I'm a Sig armorer and no it shouldn't be loose. I carry a P229 9mm and my extractor is virgin tight. Contact Sig and see what they say.

There you go. Sig's initial QC sucks more lately, but their CS is still reported to be decent. Use it.

I own 5 Sig P22X series pistols (P226 9mm, P226 .357, P220, P220 Match, and P229S) and none of them have a loose ejector. The ejector is mounted rock solid on all of them.

Call SIG CS..as the others said, the ejector should not be loose.

Thanks everyone.

I will call their customer service tomorrow and see what they say.

But I am not going to send my new handgun to Sig repairs for 2 months if I can just bring it to my local gun store to have it looked at for a few bucks...

Their turnaround is pretty quick. For that, 2 weeks, maybe 3.

They will email you a pre-paid label and cover the shipping both ways.

I would send it to Sig.

Small issue, but still –– back to the factory.

After reading everyone else's posts I have determined that your ejector should not be loose.  Contact customer service to fix the problem. :)

I have 2 P226 9mm's. Both of them have ejectors that are as solid as if they were machined in.

Would love a new one of the SS P220's. Those things as sexy as hell.
