Mine's almost nine years old. She loves the snow, always burying her head into snowbanks and such.

Awesome, AWESOME pics in this thread!!!  GSD's are the most loyal, faithful, protective, and overall goofy dogs ever! They love to get into trouble when your not looking then give you that goofy assed sideways look when they get caught My Zoe loved to play in the snow and would mother us if we had a bad day. She just knew we were in a bad mood and would nuzzle us until we felt better. I miss my Zoe |

We had two GSDs when I was growing up. It may well be time to get one, I really miss them. Here's our current pack. Savannah wanting me to quit taking pictures and play.  Murray waiting for me to try and take the ball away. He'll be 12 soon, and he's starting to show his age. He seems to get whiter around his face every day.  Savannah, just chillin'  Whatever you are making up there, is some of it for us?  |

I miss that old bastard. |

This is Max. He's an Irish Wolfhound. Let me tell you his story.. He was my fathers dog. A one in a million. My Dad was a school teacher who taught agricultural studies ,and took Max with him to work every day. He hung out with his students and generally had the run of the stud area at the school. Every day he would hang out with maybe a hundred humans. He is the happiest most well adjusted dog i've ever known. Then my father developed a brain tumor and passed away. I cared for him in his home for the last few months. He died peacefully in his sleep with his dog (and the family) all sitting around him. One week after my fathers passing, i was staying in his house. As i went to bed, i noted to myself that it was a week since my dad died, and that he passed at 4:20 in the morning. Sure enough, at 4:20 i was woken up with the sound of Max wagging his tail against the floor in the lounge room. (wooden floor) i look at the clock and go "shit - its 420." I get up and investigate the noise. I walk in the room to see Max sitting in front of the TV, which is turned on to a blue screen. He's looking really happy and is wagging his tail into the floor. I think, "did i leave the TV on?" Nah i didnt. I say to Max "did u turn the TV on?' As soon as i did the TV turned off. I shat myself. Max strolls over to me, happy as Larry. I knew my fathers spirit was with me then. He dropped by to say goodbye to his dog. I went back to bed going..shit ghosts are real. I was kind of frightened, but was more peaceful than anything. Funnily enough i was able to go to sleep really quickly. So then Max came into my care. He is now 15 years old. The life expectancy of big dogs is quite low, about 9 or so. And Max is big, 50+ kilo's. But he is still alive. Is still the most obediant and happy, and well adjusted dog i've ever known. In this pic he is at my brothers house, hanging out with his little pup, which has caused all that damage. Max serenely looks on. I really dont want Max to die, as he is such a strong link with me and my Dad. I know he will die soon. Max still lives outside. He only comes in during storms. He sleeps a lot, like old dogs do, and is a bit slow getting up. He has never lost a dog fight in his whole life, though it has been a while since his last. He had the most amazing fighting style - he would jump upwards and strike down with his paws and jaws. He loved people, but hated strange dogs...beating them up was his hobby...and possums - he would get 1-2 a year... I'm scared i will lose him soon. I'm gunna go outside and play with him now. |
