...but I saw Lord of War, and I thought Interpol already had authority to operate on US soil.  This just conforms reality to what I already thought was fact.  No big deal.

(But it's 'just entertainment,' right?)

Contrary to popular belief based on TV and movies, Interpol doesn't really have an executive or operational function.  It's more of an administrative clearing house and database of information used by the national law enforcement agencies of member nations, in our case the US DOJ, to help track down and extradite criminals and fugitives wanted by other nations.  It's not like there are international Interpol agents running around chasing criminals anywhere.
