Because I'm giving my letter of resignation to HR first thing in the morning and we are currently in the middle of major renovations to our office and i'm such a critical person in EVERYTHING. Well  I'm so sick of the bullshit, the bitching, and the complete lack of respect people have for their "computer guy" I'm leaving.

No I don't have a new job lined up yet, but if I don't eject from here soon, I will jump off the roof and shoot myself in the head on the way down or if I snap big time, use a shotgun in the telecomm room. That won't buff out so easy. .

Dude, the prudent move is to try and parlay the threat of your departure into more money, or more authority, or a resolution of what bugs you. If they can't deliver a solution to any of those, then you bail.

Don't quit until you find a job. Much easier to find one when you have one.
At work just work as if you are retiring in a few months. Someone wants something just say you'll look into it and get back to them. Tough questions send them to your boss. Let nothing get to you push it all back. When the chatter starts to get to you just say can't talk got to go to the john.

Yup, no matter how much it sucks, you should have something firm lined up, or you may regret it with either no job, or having to take another job at a painful pay cut in a few months.

This.

My decision to leave came 2 weeks ago and it still going to be after New Years(If I last that long), I'm just accelerating when I give notice.

Up until Friday I was thinking if they ask me what would it take to make me stay I was going to say "Double my salary, give me over time after 40 hours and double time if I ever have to work on the weekends or holidays". While I have no expecation of that demand ever being met it was something.

But now, that won't do.

yes. Any DA worth two shits will cite precedent of people surviving falls from various heights, of which there have been some down right absurd heights survived.  Therefore saying that there is no way to know for sure if the victim would have died from the fall, therefore being shot killed them. = shooter to jail.

Much better to just fark off at work. You know, cut back to 45 hours a week. Go in late. Stay home Monday just for the hell of it.... Look for another job in the meantime.

Plus if you really  REALLY suceed in screwing off at work, they will PAY YOU to not come back....

Get BACK at them by showing up, shutting up, doing your job, taking their $$, and going home.  Repeat the next day.  Happiness at work is inversely proportional to the lack of words out of your mouth at work (which accomplish little anyway).

I would take a big drink of " I don't give a shit", and stay until I found another job.  It's pretty brutal out there even for IT guys.   I have a friend that is an IT guy and has been out of permanent work for 18 months.  He can get contract jobs, but they are pretty shitty and he is owed money at his present job.
