I inadvertently broke the rules with my previous thread... So I'll try again. If you could only have one of these rifles, which one would you choose? Please post the reason for your choice. (5.56x45) Arsenal SA M-5R: (Pros) Accurate, high quality, milled receiver, durable finish, takes a common round. (Cons) Heavy. Norinco 84S: (Pros) Accurate, good quality, well balanced, takes a common round. (Cons) Heavy, the blued finish isn't durable. Arsenal SLR-106F: (Pros) Accurate, good quality, light weight, somewhat compact when folded, takes a common round. (Cons) Poor finish, magazines don't seat as smoothly. (7.62x39) Arsenal SA M-7 Carbine: (Pros) High quality, milled receiver, durable finish, 'very' well balanced. (Cons) Needs repair work, 7.62x39 ammunition may be hard to find someday. Arsenal SAS M-7: (Pros) High quality, milled receiver, durable finish, very compact when folded (concealable), well balanced, (Cons) Underfolder stock may not be as durable, 7.62x39 ammunition may be hard to find someday. (5.45x39) Arsenal SLR-105A1: (Pros) High quality, light weight, accurate, very cheap ammo, low recoil. (Cons) Poor finish, 5.45x39 surplus may dry up, ammo can only be found online. |

Earlier this year I decided I wanted a nice AK and it would probably be the only AK I'd own at least for a long time until I fill some other "needs"
I chose the Arsenal 106 it has a common round, you can find 223 anywhere, its light (I dont need a milled 5.56), the finish doesnt bother me, just use different gun cleaner, and it seems to be fairly accurate. The only downside it that mags are expensive and dont insert as smoothly as metal mags. |

Norinco 84S. Why? On my third Chinese AK, and having shot other makes, I prefer them. -thicker barrels -thicker receivers (in most cases) -100% factory and preban (no worry of US parts compliance) -usually a much better trigger -I personally prefer the blued finish It'll likely cost less than any of the milled ones and shoot just as well, if not better. |

But when I use them in a stamped AK, the magazine catches on the side of the receiver and makes it harder to seat. |

But I figure eventually that problem will correct itself if I use the mags enough.
