So, I got bored the other day...and wrote up a fake article to see responses from people.  Many did not bat an eye at it and thought it was for real.  It is sad when something that seemed so far fetched years ago now seems possible.

Here is the parody...

Tuesday, December 15, 2009

In a rare interview with President Barack Obama Tuesday, he revealed that after the health care debate is over, focus will be turned to ensuring that inequality in retirement is curbed.  Mr. Obama mentioned that for too long poverty has been common place with seniors and many were forced to see images on television, magazines, and the internet of wealthy seniors living the luxurious lifestyle.  “Time has come to put a stop to this flaunting of wealth and out right rudeness directed to our greatest generation,” Obama said on Tuesday.

Mr. Obama mentioned that he and his close advisors are working out the details on a plan that will place a one time “Wealth Excess” tax on retirement accounts such as 401(k)s, Roth IRAs, and defined benefit plans.  Mr. Obama stated, “We are thinking of a one time 52% excess tax on these retirement accounts that are designed primarily for fat cat bankers and CEOs.  Normal people don’t have access to these accounts and fairness has been slapped in the face far to long.”  Mr. Obama also mentioned that when withdrawals are made on these accounts, taxes will also be collected so that an era of tax avoidance is stopped.

While interviewing a focus group of individuals yesterday one of the participants, Myron Brown, stated, “Yeah, it is about time that they stop driving around in them fancy cars and sailboats.  I be lucky if I even can get buried when I be dead.”  Others shared the sentiment and are excited about having the playing field leveled in the near future.

Details of the plan will remain behind closed doors until sometime in mid-January, sources say.

I think we've reached the point where reality is inseparable from falsity.

Well, it certainly does sound like something that would come out of this administration.

Sounds totally plausible for Obama.  i wouldn't be surprised in the least if that was real.

I've actually been predicting that one for a while.

Me, too.  This is the largest single source of hard cash available for the .gov, and the only thing stopping them from taking it is an act by a previous Congress.  Eventually, they will say that it isn't fair that some rich people have more than Social Security to take them through their golden years.  I think a whole bunch of people would support this.
