I went back to college (Universiyt of california, Riverside) this year to get my teaching credential and ran across a new newspaper on campus. It is an independant paper, run by students and funded by donations and a few advertisers (we're always looking for donors, hint, hint). This is because the adminstration refuses to help us, to give us an office or dole out any funding like they do for other groups on campus such as the African American Student Union, the Hispanic student union, MECHA, the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Transgender club, etc, etc. Also, we have been unable to find a professor to act as our advisor. But fuck them, we don't need 'em.
Anyhoo, I was reading another thread where a guy cut loose of a rant abot some leeches at a Walmart, driving around in carts and laughing about the govt paying for their stuff. I had a day last week where everywhere i turned I ran across those kind of people. Since it seems i am not the only one who hates these scumbags, I thought I would share my latest article for our paper and see what the hive thought. Feel free to let me know of any changes you think should be made, as right now it is just on the website, but we may publish it in the paper version later. I know it is long winded, but it kind of has to be, there really isn't anything I am willing to cut out. It's a good read. Unfortunately, it's too late.
As a nation, we have become too lazy. I am 53, and I see it clearly. I am sure that the generation before me said the same thing, and with justification. Socialism means totalitarianism. Eventually, any way you look at it. This is the lesson of history. There will be a correction, I am sure. But, it will be too late for me to enjoy it. |
