My mom, who works at a small bank in Illinois, just contacted and informed me that they have had several customers with unauthorized transactions on their debit and credit cards. One of these transactions was $500 at a Publix supermarket in Boca Raton, Florida and another was for $500 at a Walmart in Jacksonville, Florida. Criminals from all over the world are hacking computer systems, accessing account information, and then selling this information on the black market.
Make sure you double and triple check your statements! I suggest you never use debit cards either. Some banks may refund your money, but many others will not without a huge hassle! Credit card companies almost always credit your statement with little or no hassle. |
