I guess the new Chevy Volt will have a range of 40 miles on electric before the gas engine is needed. Chevy estimated that the average commute is under 25 miles round trip, I think. Heard it on Adam Carolla's "Carcast" Not a bad show although I'm not crazy about Carolla, does sound like he's pro 2a.

I'd have to stop to plug it in halfway

Most of my life I was within walking distance of the office, although I rarely walked because some of the courts are in a building on the edge of town about 5 miles from my office, or in the next county etc. I do miss walking once in awhile and I sure miss driving there in 5 minutes

On a spectacularly good day, 45 minutes from my garage to the parking lot at work. Usually it's closer to 50-55 and has taken up to 90 minutes.

And it isn't even really snowy yet.

It's jarring hearing him make weird shock jock jokes about masturbating etc when talking to 70 year old retired auto execs, otherwise pretty good.

He tried the "midget racing" joke on Vic Edelbrock, and failed horribly ... just like the last 4 times he's tried it.

I heard that yesterday. He bombs with really inappropriate jokes constantly. He made some comment at SEMA to someone about "going to his hot wife" and you could almost hear the guy thinking "Who is this jackass?"

Longest commute was 75 miles one way. That sucked. 20 minute car ride followed by an hour train ride into the city.

Shortest was about 6 miles one way. Rural. Took 8 minutes.

Current is 25 miles one way, mixed suburban, takes 35 min in the morning and 45 minutes in the evening.

I won't be getting a limited-range vehicle.
