Well, my last final will be Dec 14. I'll have about 30 days and I hope to read two good books in the mean time. I know these ones are heavy, but I think I can get it done. Here are my choices:

C. S. Lewis, The Abolition of Man (1947)
George Orwell, Homage to Catalonia (1952)
Reinhold Niebuhr, The Nature and Destiny of Man (1941)
Arnold Toynbee, A Study of History (1934-1961)
Hannah Arendt, The Origins of Totalitarianism (1951)
H. L. Mencken, Prejudices (1919-27)

Please elaborate. Is this casual reading or something useful toward a thesis paper, per se?

What's the objective here?

My own personal benefit is my objective. Never hurts to keep the mind working.

And I also want to not have to think about Property or Con Law if I can

A people's history of the United States - interesting book with a good perspective.

Anything on the Great Depression would be more than pertinent.
