Whatever you do. DON'T DO PROGRESSIVE! On repairs they cut corners and insist on used or aftermarket repair parts. A lot of dealers and body shops in my area have refused to do business with them! |

Same amount of coverage, deductibles, etc ? Your not near the Gulf Coast are you ? ( At least they are still in TX, they are thinking of leaving FLA ) I've had my homeowners ins thru them since '84 and never filed a claim. It's actually less for MORE coverage. Our policy hasn't been updated in a long time, and is still based on a quite low Dwelling coverage. |

I know after Frances & Jeanne went thru a few years back, my daughter & SIL had alot of aftermarket roofing shingles all over their property. |

We have our basic dwelling coverage, but also the windstorm ( hurricane ) related coverages and I pay about 2X's that $1800, and this place ain't no McMansion...... |

Both Progressive and Geico donate $$$ to lib/anti-RKBA causes. Keep shopping. Suggestions? Seriously open to them. I have been getting homeowners quotes the last several weeks and it is amazing how much they vary for the same coverage. State Farm $518 Allstate $384 Geico $491 Farmers Insurance Group $1844
Travelers $308 |

my H.O ins. is 490/year. sure there may be a couple cheaper, but multiline savings is more than what I would save by switching. The local agent has been great to deal with over the last 11 years, It is not worth it to me to find someone else. Plus the guy didn't think anything of it when I told him I wanted an extra 25K in firearm insurance |

Mobile Home? To the OP. Check out Texas Farm Bureau. I've had them 14 years auto, 10 years homeowners and they've been really fair the times I claimed.

Put a liner in my chimney after a flue fire no questions asked. After Ike went through Indiana, they paid me for two roofs plus other assorted damages. No questions asked. |

Yeah, I have State Farm, and have for 20+ years, and I've gotten lower quotes. But the thing is, anytime I've had to put in a claim (hail damage, ceiling collapsing in bathroom, etc.) they have been totally helpful and paid out probably more than I've paid in over the years. I'll stick with good service, and assured claim payment rather than try to save a few bucks. |

I love State Farm. They have ALWAYS done us right. Fifth District Appellate Court of Illinois upheld the criminal fraud conviction of State Farm Insurance 1) State Farm Insurance has agreed to pay $775,000 in civil penalties and investigative costs for allegedly violating Minnesota insurance laws, the state Department of Commerce said Wednesday.
2) The Texas Insurance Commissioner has ordered State Farm to refund $310 million to its Texas customers. The refunds are for overcharges that date back to 2003.
3) State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. is asking the Illinois Supreme Court to hear its appeal of the judgment for $1.2 billion against it for failing to disclose the inferiority of aftermarket auto parts.
4) A class action has been certified in Maricopa County Superior Court in Arizona that alleges State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. gyps Arizona drivers who have been involved in a collision by intentionally omitting payment from claims checks for certain repairs to their cars.
5) Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty ordered State Farm Florida to issue credits or refunds totaling $120 million to current and former policyholders who did not apply for or who did not receive the windstorm loss reduction rating plan discount for making their homes more resistant to wind damage. In addition, State Farm must pay a $1 million penalty to the Florida Insurance Regulatory Trust Fund.
6) State Farm Insurance supervisors systematically demanded that Hurricane Katrina damage reports be buried or replaced or changed so that the company would not have to pay policyholders' claims in Mississippi, two State Farm insiders tell ABC News.

I just shopped ours too. We were with Citizens. We are now with AAA for auto and home. They literally cut the annual bill in half and provide slightly better coverage. The agent said that they are losing business left and right to AAA due to their highly competitive rates. Might want to have them quote you too. |

Buyer beware when purchasing discounter insurance companies. This. You get what you pay for. Seriously, why would you want "cheap" insurance? When it comes time to make a claim they will leave you high and dry or cut corners.YMMV. |

I have State Farm. While recently shopping for lower rates, I noticed that State Farm gives huge discounts for combining car and home. ... more than other companies. I believe Geico only gave a 5% discount on home for having auto as well. State Farm was something around 15% IIRC. So yes, if you are just getting one or the other, they probably won't compete on price. What sold me on staying? I talked to the autobody shop that has fixed my car twice in the past 18 months (once was hail damage, then wife in a minor wreck). The guy there told me that State Farm was the only company still paying for factory parts. The only one. I remember having something repainted about 8 years ago on a previous car, and a customer at the shop had Allstate and was pissed off because his insurance would only pay for 3rd party parts. My agent is also a big plus. She has no problems answering every question possible no matter how long it takes. I walk in to the office maybe once every 2 years and I am always recognized - don't know how she does it. Claims have always been handled directly with the autobody (check to shop) that was recommended by my dealership. (I asked their opinion after the hail damage 3 weeks after buying the car.) Been with them 9 years now. |

I can't complain on their auto or home. this, we have a Home and Auto plan they they were the best rates around, and Ive never had an issue in the 5yrs Ive had them. |

Quoted: Don't even have to be a Vet. If you have a parent that was a Vet. you can join as well. They were the cheapest when I bought my house. I need to check with State Farm now though since they insure my Jeep and boat......USAA if you're a veteran. They're the best. |
