Should I get some?
Edit: yes I would be getting some for sporting/athletic purposes. |
| My coldgear hood is invaluable when working outside in the winter. Usually my head/face gets so fucking cold from the wind, it makes my jaw ache and my face numb. Never a problem any more. I don't generally wear it "out", though, as people will give you the "look". Sometimes I'll wear it around my neck and just pull up the face shield while I'm out. Then I just yank it down when I go in the store. My LT watch cap works for the top of my dome. |

The people that wear it for fashion purposes have ruined it. |

Personally, I think under armor is overpriced, and not as good as other products that have been around longer. Their marketing is great though, and they seem really good at getting contracts with sports teams.
For athletic use, fabrics like CoolMax are better whicking and dry faster, in my opinion. For cold weather, stuff like Helly Hansen is definitely superior - it might be a little pricier, but is much better. |

Quoted: Walmart sells Starter for about $10. Same stuff, 1/4 the price. I'm wearing it right now! Great for the gym and any outdoor activities. ah its close but not the same. i had a guy on the crew who wore that last year and its not the same. it wore out way too early and was not as well made.. |
I didn't even know it was supposed to be trendy or I probably wouldn't have bought it!
I got one of their hoodies last fall on sale and I love it. I work security in a very very cold environment, where I'm in and out of a heated guard house all day long. The hoodie is good for keeping me warm without cooking me out when I'm inside. |

Yeah I figured the wal-mart stuff would wear out fast. And to avoid that when/probably/most likely when I do order some, how would I wash them so I would not wear out the fabric? |
| I wear the 20 dollar UA t shirts for the gym and carbine classes. They work amazing and are way more comfortable than a sweaty heavy t shirt. I also bough some boxer briefs for a class this year. Amazing difference in comfort from cotton boxers. I wear them a lot now even just day to day. Never sweaty, and they don't bunch up in jeans like regular boxers. |

Quoted: Quoted: forgot to mention that they stink to high hell after you wear the shirt for a day Yeah... so how do you warsh them without hurting the fabric and getting the stink out? i wash them with with normal laundry and have no problems with sweat or BO after a hard workout. cabelas offered a special detergent for UA clothes when i bought my last top but i didnt buy any.. |

Fucking eye area gets cold too, ya know! My M-frames only do so much. |

for working out i wear the UA heat gear compression shirts under a normal t shirt. they work well for me. i think they sell for about 30$ in the winter time i wear UA base layers on cold days and a UA cold gear top. that combined with other clothes does a really nice job. my one white UA workout shirt is just about due to be replaced. ive had it for about 4 years now and use it a lot. the neck is starting to get stretched out and so is the main fabric. not too shabby for all the use ive gotten out of it |

Under Armor in my experience:
Football training gear (Compression shorts, hip pads, etc.): Great stuff for a athlete, I have a set of Under Armor hip pads that I wear for paintball, and a set of compression shorts for other sports. You can't beat either of them for comfort. My firends who play hockey wear exclusivly UA under their pads. Pricey, yes. Worth it, very much so. Heatgear: Been hit or miss for me. I have a thing of compression heatgear that I tried wearing under my paintball pads, and I found that I got hotter with it on than with a standard cotton t-shirt. However, I do have a sleevless compression shirt that I've used when I was doing yardwork out at my parents house, and it worked amazingly. But, for paintball, I got a Reebok wick away shirt for $20, which is just as good as UA, but cheap enough to replace when I trash it. Coldgear: Ok, but to be perfectly honest, it's overpriced. I have a thing of Under Armor coldgear, and an identicle Reebok shirt, and the Reebok keeps me just as warm, and I paid $20 for the Reebok rather than $50 for the Under Armor. Other stuff: My school had a deal on UA polos, and I got two, and I will proclaim long and loud that they are the most comfortable polos I have ever worn. My opinion: If you have money to spend, buy Under Armor, because there is a visible quality difference between UA and their competitors. However, it's not so noticeable a difference as to make the competitors worthless. Reebok, Nike, or other brands offer the roughly the same, but slightly lower performance at a much lower price. |

I started wearing the t shirts about a month ago for fencing. With all the gear you have to wear it makes you sweat more than any other sport I've tried. I used to hate having to wear a cotton t shirt that was soaking wet all the time. I bought the cheaper brand instead of UA, but it's probably the same stuff anyway. The difference was amazing. I'm dry a minute or so after I take the jacket and other gear off, and it makes it easier to move since it doesn't stick to the other gear. |
