My XD's coming this week, I was planning on having a laser to screw around with on the range, but i found an aimshot LS8268 Green Laser/Light combo for $110. I am wondering if aimshot is a good comapny, or just a chinese knock off company. If i can get this for $110 the other green lasers i have been looking at are around $60-80, so its not much more.
Also if this is truly an american made 5mw green laser would it be brighter or as bright as chinese 15-20mw. I have heard that American laser's output are what they output in green light, the chinese output (15-20mw) is what it outputs in green light and IR light. Also its supposed to be 5.75oz, anyone think this is too heavy? It looks kind of big.

I handled one at a gun show. The laser was very bright compared to red lasers I am used too.
However construction seemed mediocre, along with how it mounts. Notice the location of the controls. You need to operator them with the support hand unless you have very long fingers. |

Yep, I have an older model mounted on my beaver gun. It's gotta be 15 years old and I think I've put four 3v batteries in it. It is mounted on a ruger MkII that sees double duty as a plinker. I have kilt quite a few beavers in the swamp and a few squirrels with this over the years. It has not lost zero and battery life on the old red laser is great! I know nothing of their newer stuff. |

Thats encouraging. Im really surprised that it seems noone has any experience. I cannot find a damn thing on google. Its really tempting because it comes to $122 with 2nd day UPS air, or $119 with UPS ground. Now if i could detach the light from the laser, i would have already bought it. |

I have a couple of them....one over 5 years old still works. I'd have to give em an OK rating. Could you please elaberate "OK" Also are they heavy, large, or bulky, or if they were was it enough to bother you. Then again if you had several tey cant be too bad |

They are older models...as such they are not in the same league as some of the newer stuff.
They were the kinds that you attached to your barrel or your trigger guard. They had the little coiled wire with the pressure pad to activate. They were adequate for red lasers.... no good in daylight/bright light but fine in low light. The only one I still have on a weapon is attached to the barrel of a Mossberg 500. For short range in the house work it's just fine. Since that time I have moved on to other brands like Lasermax etc. that I feel are a step up... in quality and in price. I can't speak to the quality of their current offerings. Hope this helps. |
