Un believable

As some of you may remember, My son in law is currently deployed.  My daughter and grand daughter came to stay with us while he was gone.  Saturday, my daughter and I drove to Spokane to set up their house as he is returning next month.  Grand daughter stayed with my wife and other daughter.  Because my wife works, on Monday my granddaughter went to stay at teh other grandparents house for 2 days.

While she was at our house, my wife would call frequently and let the baby "talk" to my daughter frequently.  This is the first time they have been apart since she was born.  When the GD went to the inlaws house, they only called us once, and every time my daughter called to talk to her baby, they would say that they were shopping or the baby was asleep or something.  My daughter only got to talk to her baby once on Monday and Tuesday.

Tuesday afternoon my other daughter goes to pick up the baby and bring her to our house.  First thing the mother in law says is, "Baby bumped her head on a table"  My daughter feels around and yes there is small bump on her head, but the baby seems ok.  My wife tells me that tuesday night the baby was kinda different, not as energetic as usual.

Wed. we fly home. Apperently all day Wed. the mother in law was calling my other daughter asking how the baby was.  When we land at DFW, my duaghter gets a text saying the MIL wants to come over and talk.  My other daughter and wife are outside waiting to pick us up.  My daughter goes out to see her daughter while I collect the bags.  Other daughter walks in to tthe terminal and tells me, " MIL just called, teh baby did not bump her head.  A KNIFE fell and hit her in the head.

Needless to say my daughter is freeking out.  Not only did her baby get hurt but the MIL lied to her, her son, my wife and other daughter about it.  We immediatley took the baby to the doctor to have her checked out.

PT2.

I also called his command and asked them to get in touch with my son in law and have him call me immediately.  Took about an hour but finally called.  He too was very upset.  Neither of them want to let his parents see my Grand daughter now, and I don't blame them a bit.

Accidents happen but a KNIFE, come on?  Then to lie about it.  UNACCEPTABLE

I am fuming.

I am trying to maintain my composure.  My daughter was slinging F bombs like they were going out of style yesterday.

If you can't trust family who can you trust?

They need to be called on it, and loudly.

I would say you are over reacting a bit.  Obviously the blade didn't slice the baby, if it did and you guys didn't notice then what does that say about you?  If the handle hit the baby and there was a bump, ok big deal.  Unless you think the MIL is lying about other things too I'm not sure why you are rushing off to the doctor days later.  Accidents happend, especially in a home that usually doesn't have small children in it.

I can understand chewing out the MIL for not being honest and upfront about things but that's it.  Anything beyond that is just your family creating more drama for no reason.

Obviously the blade didn't slice the baby, if it did and you guys didn't notice then what does that say about you? The tip of the blade did pierce her scalp, luckily it was just bone underneath.  Had she been looking up when it happened she could have lost an eye.  We, My daughter and I, did not get to see the baby until we landed and that is also when we found out about it.  Granted the wound was not bad, however the thought of her baby being hurt that way really upset my daughter

If the handle hit the baby and there was a bump, ok big deal.  Unless you think the MIL is lying about other things too I'm not sure why you are rushing off to the doctor days later.  Actually it was the next day, My daughter was very upset and wanted HER daughter checked out.  It is their first child and they almost lost her during the pregnancy.  She is pretty protective and concerned when it comes to her child.

Accidents happend, especially in a home that usually doesn't have small children in it.  You are correct, however, they had absolutley ZERO right to conceal the facts of what really happened.  As far as my daughter and son in law are concerned, it was a betrayal of trust.
