My wife prints pictures at the photo kiosk (Wal Mart/Sams Club) fairly regularly...normally about 50 to 75 pics at at time, once or twice a month. From a digital (6MP).
I think she's paying $0.13 per 4 x 6 (at least that's what Sam's lists on line) or more. Is there a high quality photo printer that will work at home...or (with the cost of the printer/consumables) not worth it...? This can be a dedicated photo printer (no general printing)...we have a laser and an inkjet multipurpose hooked up to the house computer...she can use this photo printer from her laptop. Thanks for any suggestions. AFARR |

A few years back, I bought a nice photo quality printer and a $29.95 cheapo to do text with. I messed up and printed a photo on the cheapo and when I went back and re did it on the good printer, I couldn't tell the difference. YMMV. The multifunction does OK pics (not as nice as come out of the kiosk) for things like book reports for the kids, but the old lady wants glossy, etc. AFARR |

She uses Snapfish also (I see the packs coming in the mail). Sounds like the consensus is to just continue to use either the kiosks or on-line. Thanks! AFARR |

The end product today's printers produce are amazing, and reasonable in terms of cost. But... I don't print like she does. That's a lot, IMO. If I did print that much, I'd compare Walgreens, Sam's, Walmart, etc... figure out which was the cheapest, watch for coupons, yadda yadda, but go that route. Otherwise, I highly recommend Epson. I've never figured out what a 4x6 costs me to print though, sorry. ![]() |
