I'm getting my wife an iPod touch for christmas, who has the best price?

This being Apple, just about everyone sells them for the same price.

Target has them for (IIRC) $185 with a $15 Target gift card - so that's better than the best online price of $179 (oops, it went up to $181) at Amazon.

That I've seen anyway.

Sorry man...it's the truth.  I've been looking at them as well, and all the prices I've seen are within $10-15 of each other at the most.  I think Apple has some serious price controls on its vendors.

Amazon.com usually discounts a little more than a brick & mortar store...plus free shipping and no tax

I bought mine as a refurb from apple's website.  It was significantly cheaper than new.  Came with the same warrenty and a new battery and case.  Look into it.  There is no way to tell a difference between that and a new one.

ETA: Apple Store

Nay, nay, not the case at all.

Apple Store Touch 32GB $299  Sams Club $282
Apple Store Touch 64GB $399  Sams Club $377

If you already have a membership, it is well worth going to Sam's to get them.

I bought my 64GB there three weeks ago.

You really missed the boat by not getting it on Black Friday, the 64GB's were $358.

I believe the 2nd gen does not have the internal speaker, you have to use headphones to hear it.  Or external speakers plugged in via adapter.
Above is wrong ^^^

well, if Sam's Club makes your testicles suck up in you, Costco pretty much has the exact same price.

I get 22% off of everything Apple and I still got it at Sam's because it ended up being cheaper in the end, also it all didn't go directly to Apple.

Not much.  The 3rd gen 32 & 64gig come with a microphone feature the 8g and previous iPod Touch models did not have.  The big leap was from 1st gen to 2nd gen.

You could use Skype with that - kind of a cool addition.

If she doesn't pay attention to you now, wait until you get her one.

Where are my kids....?

They are neat devices, I won't buy anything Apple for personal reasons, but I got one for free.

Pretty much all will be close n price now.

Amazon price of $158 is a 2nd generation not sure what the difference in the generations are.

I'm confused. According to the Skype site:

Will Skype work on the iPod touch?

Skype presence and chat will work on all iPod touches.  However, calling is only available on the iPod touch (2nd Generation) because Apple does not support microphones on the 1st generation.

Aha, must be the 32 and 64Gb models, the 8Gb generation 2 doesn't have the mic.

Check out the following web sites.  They have the lowest Ipod prices I have seen.

www.JR.Com
www.bhphotovideo.com

These are VERY large camera shops in NYC.    They both have walk in stores as well.    I have been to both stores, and have ordered thousands of dollars in camera gear from them both.
