ACKNOWLEDGING the United States would not be the world's most powerful nation forever might lead to a better approach in its current international relations, former US president Bill Clinton said today.

Speaking at the 2002 World Congress on the Peaceful Reunification of China and World Peace in Sydney, Mr Clinton said this "brief moment in history" when the US had pre-eminent military, economic and political power, would not last.

"This is just a period, a few decades this will last, and I think that all of us who are Americans should think about this and ask ourselves how do we wish this moment to be judged 50 years from now," he said.

"And how would we like to be treated when we no longer have this pre-eminent position and we have to work in a cooperative fashion with others to a far greater extent than we have to do today.

"It seems to me if we would think about it like that it would be much more likely to lead all Americans, without regard of their party, to making the right decisions about how we should approach a lot of these problems that we face."

The former president said he did not want to be critical of the current US Administration.

"I feel that I should be careful in what I say [but] I believe that the [current US] President has been much more interested in international cooperation since September 11th, and I take that to be a very positive sign," Mr Clinton said.

He also said he hoped President George W. Bush's recent visit to Korea would have a positive outcome.

"I certainly have no illusions about the North Korean Government," he said.

". . . But the fact is they ended their nuclear program in 94, in 98 they ended testing of long-range missiles and in 2000 we had the elements of an agreement with them to end their entire missile program."

Mr Clinton's comments come after Mr Bush named North Korea as one country in its "axis of evil" along with Iraq and Iran last month.

Not that I'm a fan of his, but he's probably right.  I mean we only have around 10% of this planet's population, yet we use up over half of its available resources.  Obviously this doesn't leave the rest of the world w/ much to split.  What WILL happen in 50 years as Europe consolidates, China & India expand economically, socially, & advance technologically?  As Africa's population & problem's continue to explode?  All of this in regions where we derive so many resources.  Will we be sending in the Marines to make sure we have cheap coffee from Colombia, oil from Venezuela, diamonds & gold from central Africa?  There's nothing wrong w/ espousing the view that we may not be on top forever.  It's not unpatriotic & as much as most here despise Clinton, myself included, he's probably right.  What would be unpatriotic would be to dismiss his comments and assume our powerful military & current economic leverage over other countries can last forever.  Always plan ahead...

Look at what percentage of good things come from the US - we have about 5% of the population, use 50% of the planet's resources, and 90% of every good thing in the history of the human race came from America. I hate to think of what the rest of the world would be like if resources were doled out proportionate to national populations. Between China, Indian, and Africa, close to 45% of the world's resources would be wasted.

The L.A. riots is a PRIME example, where the majority of those looting were Mexican invaders who couldn't say Rodney King, let alone be enraged by it.

If what you say is true then it would be impossible for these races to function or accel in our western world.  As it is when removed from their environment they can and do.  Is there a genetic element to success?  Personally I think so to a degree.  However on an individual basis this is not the case.

Let me preface by saying that I mean no harm with my observations. I merely report my own observations.

We have all heard the myth of "economics" as the prime factor in the differences between racial IQ's. Well, that's not entirely true.
The economic myth is not used by Asians or Semites. How could it be? These two groups score higher than all others on IQ tests regardless of income. Asians adapt to our culture in an astonishingly short space of time.

A 10 years old with no ability to speak English may graduate at the top of his class some 8 years later.

Yet, we have some poor performing groups in this land who STILL can't compete after being in our midst some 400 years. Many of them speak English as a second language of sorts, and one group as reported by "the Bell Curve" scores an average IQ of around 80. This is considered borderline retarded, yet we are told it is a mere matter of economics.

Here is where that argument falls on its face.
Poor Whites from Appalachia are generally VASTLY poorer than inner city groups who recieve much more in the way of resources.
WHY do we not hear of these whites exhibiting IQ's of 80? After all, eceonomics IS the key we are told.

The fact is, there are racial pimps who make fortunes pandering to failure by making excuses. "More money" we are told. "More money will solve our ills." We already spend far more than other land on schooling and still the failure exists and is getting WORSE!

A study released last year crushed many of the social egnieers who so love communistic methods of wealth redistribution.

A comprehensive study of black male teenagers who came from backgrounds of wealth and security showed that at on average,  17 year old black males read and performed as well as 13 year old white males on academic tests.

We are told this stems from the residual effects of slavery. Yet, in Europe, where no slavery existed, the SAME phenomenon exists. How can this be explained?

Races ARE different on average. This isn't to postulate that all whites are smart or all of (fill in the blank) are stupid. I do think that it is UNDENIABLE that in Africa NO Negro culture is remotely close to anything created by whites or Asians.

In fact, on the continent of Africa the ONLY cultures of note are in Northern Africa, which is classified as white in population, and anywhere else Whites may have settled in enclaves. As Rhodesia and South Africa lose their white elements, these lands slowly descend into the abyss. Once fertile farms are returned to dust as blacks take over and destroy them.

This may or may not have anything to do with the idea of "genetics" being Africa's problem, but I just finished watching a tape of The History Channel's program "The True Story of Blackhawk Down." In it, a young US Marine named Hussein Farah Aidid - the US-educated son of Somali warlord Mohammed Farah Aidid - was deployed as part of the original humanitarian relief effort, and was helping to feed the people of his ancestral homeland. In 1995, Mohammed Aidid died - and his son left the USA to replace him as the clan warlord. Now, here we have someone who spent at least several years in a modern civilization, getting educated far beyond the dreams of anyone in his ancestral homeland and absorbing enough American values that he put the welfare of others ahead of his own and joined the US Marines. [b]But[/b], when the opportunity presented itself he threw all that away and took his father's place at the head of a violent, oppressive clan and worked to destroy everything he had just been helping to fix a few years before. Was this a cultural issue? He hadn't lived among that culture for some time; instead, he had been living among Americans long enough to be accepted into the USMC. Or, could it be "genetic," for lack of a better term?

In an Empire where competing races fight over finite resources which will be TAKEN from one group and given to another on the basis of race, the racial issue is the tinderbox waiting to explode.

That we can't discuss it for fear of reprisal or condemnation is the most galling of ideas to me. Ideas are off LIMITS? Yes, in a communist world.

That we are now trying to ADD to the racial problems of this land having learned NOTHING from our racial disasters of the past, tells me that we are doomed.

We imported cheap labor from Africa and have created a rift that can only be solved through intermarriage that will one day remove the distinctions of race.

Do a little research on what Dr. William Shockley said on the subject.   Incidentally, this is the same Dr. William Shockley who invented the transistor at Bell Labs.   A smart cookie, by any standard.

The fact of the matter is, evolution can and does act in a way that favors more rapid development of some species/subspecies/races faster than others, based on environmental factors.   More challenging environments create more adaptable and resilient races.  It holds true for every species on the planet, and why should we think we humans are any different?

Humans are unique in that we can and do choose to go against nature's wisdom, to nobody's benefit.

I simply wonder if maybe it's possible that Africans who were taken out of the bush and pressed into slavery were, to say it as nicely as I can, "not quite ripe yet" due to a slightly less demanding environment...in places, at least.  After all, not all of Africa is a desert, and there's not a lion hiding behind every rock.   Much of it looks pretty much like paradise much of the time.   A good land to get fat on, without much in the way of environmental challenges to force rapid evolution.

I only suggest it's POSSIBLE.

Klinton hs never been a fan of the United States. If he was a supporter then he never would have gone to the Soviet Union during wartime to protest the U.S. involvement in Vietnam. He never would have refused to serve in the military during a time of war.

If he was a supporter of the US he never would have used his office of President to sustain personal gain.  What he did in the White House indicated what he thought of the country.

However, having said all that, lets keep in mind what really makes this country great - the Constitution.  The values generated by the slave owning, gun loving, mean old white men founding fathers is what makes us great.  Remember that the old Soviet Union had more natural resources but lacked the freedom.  If we lose that freedom then Klinton is right and we has better prepare for the worst.

I am positive that if we could revisit America in 500 years we would find a stagnant shell of what once was. I won't go into it all, but I'd just as soon that it be utterly destroyed as turn into a nation along the lines of the indigenous cultures to the south of us.

Since WE (by we I mean the Europeans) created this culture, there can be no replacing us. This country was built on the abilities of the people who carved it from the wildreness.
Once we are gone there will be no driving force to continue it.

In my mind the effects are already evident for any who wishes to see. Once Great Cities that were bright safe places to live and work are now third world hell holes. Our schools, though primitive by modern standards, once produced some of the greatest minds the world has ever seen. Today, the main goal is just to keep the animals from knocking each other up or shooting one another.

Any trip to a modern Hospital emergency room is akin to a Peruvian bus ride through the mountains resplendent with goats, chickens, and the dull gaze of those just here for the free stuff.

We can't be replaced, not and keep America a first rate example of Western Civilization. That is why I said earlier that as we fill up with third world people, we will become a third world nation.

I'm in firm agreement with Pat Buchannan and his assessment of the factors that ensure the decline of the West. And it isn't just us, but Europe as well.

Since there are no frontiers left on the land masses of our planet, and no "unclaimed land" to claim, it seems to me that there won't be any such event as another 'fall of the Roman Empire' because, well, we're all too interconnected from one society and one country to the next.

Maybe things will continue to slide downhill, but I think that if this happens, it'll be a global phenomenon.  Not restricted to just the US, but applicable to all countries that are highly developed and/or overcrowded.

In real terms, the US is NOT overcrowded, not at all.  Only around the major population centers.

Incidentally, among industrialized nations, crime per capita increases as a function of population density.   People become aggressive when crowded, and this applies to many animals as well.   Reason enough to avoid living in big cities.

The first country to fall to overcrowding should by rights be India, but there's a problem there:  They're not an empire by any stretch of the imagination and don't have far to fall.  Of their billion people, most of them live in total poverty already.

China also has a population issue, but they also have a lot of land, and they have population controls in place.  They are showing some sensibility, and if the US were to be displaced as the premiere superpower, China is most likely to be the successor.

Japan is outrageously overcrowded.  The only thing saving them from collapse is that it's very easy to leave the country and go elsewhere, and a lot of the population is doing that.

Something ODD:  The World Health Organization (WHO, great acronym...not!) has stated that they believe that a 95 percent decrease in the world's population would be a good thing for the stability of our race and our planet.

Oddly enough, they're always not TOO far away
(as in 200 miles or less) from new outbreaks of Ebola and other major-league nastiness.    Is this coincidence, or are they spreading a population cure, maybe in trial runs?     Paranoia?   Not mine.  A friend pointed this out.

Something to note - amount of land does not determine how much population a nation can support.  Water does.  Human civilizations always cluster around water sources. So China and India have serious population problems in spite of their large land size.

But what in your estamation is the solution?  What do we do, or is it as you stated earlier that we've sealed our fates, and it's just a matter of time?  
As to being of a european race, or to say white, or to say caucasian, that includes indians (east), does it not? How do you explain their delemma?

Last week some students at Georgia State University (downtown Atlanta) tried to start a Republican club on the campus.  You would think diversity works both ways and the debate would be welcomed.
Of course we could all predict the outcome. The Republican students were branded as racist, mean spririted, polluters, killers, violent extremist, woman-hating, greedy, etc...

I bring that up to make this point: Could you imagine a debate like the one going on here happening on ANY college campus in America?  We all know that would never be allowed. What we need to ask ourselves is how we got to here. How does the left manage to whine about diversity on the one hand and completely stiffle it on the other without a whimper of protest from the typical American, much less the dominate media?

Only two ways that I see the US loosing it's superpower status for the next oh, say, 20 years.

A.) A global thermonuclear war. Technicaly we might still be on top, but that position would have become very academic

B.) A colonial Mars gains independence from the US, and the new goverment is one free of a tax code that punishes the sucessful, remove goverment interference in the people's everyday lives, and has no firearms ownership laws. (the last would just be icing on the cake) This wouldn't really even be unempowering the United States, just bumping them down to number two.

What will America be like in 100 years?  I do not worry about it a lot because I will be DEAD.  I have faith that the Americans that come when I am gone will be able to deal with the current problems.  

What about the Natural Resources like Oil?  I say everyone should buy a big SUV and let’s burn up all the oil.  When the oil is gone, we will just invent alternative fuel cars that much faster.
