Someone please explain to me why Comcast has their packages so screwed up? We have a good package, we get all the channels from 1-99, plus channels like BBC America, Game Show Network, Bravo, channels like Discovery Health, and the movie channels(my dad wouldn't know what to do without Encore Westerns.)

But why have DIY Network on "On Demand" when you can't get it on cable regularly?

I know people that don't get GSN but get 200-level channels.

I gave Comcast the finger this month. They were gonna rape me to up grade to HD.

I'm gonna bundle up with Qwest. DirectTV/DSL interwebz/landline.

DirectTV eh? My sister has that.  DVR rocks.

Edit-Quest not available in my region.  Awesome.

Where my house is, comcast is the only cable provider available, and the local phone co./DSL provider is even worse...

We have Comcast's bundle with phone/internet/cable, Wide Open West is available in my area, the basic phone and web/cable is $84.99.  AT&T is the only other phone game in town, but my dad many years ago told AT&T to FOAD after he had some bill issues.

Did you get a DVR from them yet? They will charge more after you get that too.

That's pretty much how it is here... If I lived 1 block down the street, I would be out of city limits, which for some reason would make Charter Cable available.

I think your basically gonna be held hostage with 2 choices. Either you're gonna have to go with your local cable provider or you'll have to get a sattlelite/phone company combo. AT&T limits your HD streams also. I believe its 2 HD streams/house. Which isn't a problem if you're not running more than 2 tvs. But, if you have kids and a wife, then you'll be fighting for HD.

We pay Comcast like $15/month just for the HD DVR box, but it's worth it. I love taping a shit ton of shows thru the week and catching up on the weekend.

When I had comcast the service would go down fairly often.
Had a lot of internet outages and had the tv signal go out a few times.

Switched over to FIOS.
It stays up....but God help you if you need service.
Verizon FIOS is the WORST service of any company, in any industry.

Comcast at least answered the phone, in English, at a local call center.
When I call Verizon, I get broken English, from some international call center, reading from a script geared toward upselling me some new service I "qualify" for.

Grass is always greener Deej......and after mowing both lawns, you might be better off with what you have.

So this begs the question...WHY CAN'T WE HAVE ALA CARTE CABLE?

I use Comcast for their cable modem only.

The TV packages are useless, and serve only to waste precious time.

Because nobody would buy the crap channels that are PC.

I think Comcast is still #1 for worst customer service, Best Buy keeps trying to win the title though.

You haven't tried Mediacom then. I'd like to have a "1st place in shitty customer service" trophy made out of broken glass, rusty sheet metal, and splintered chicken bones and present it to them via their ass if I could pull their heads out long enough to get it in there.

Not a big fan of bundling all services with one provider.  If that providers service dies or has problems you're shit out of luck. I like to spread my risk around.

There's been a few times when the phone has died because the internets went out.

What would be great is if it were ala carte for different receivers.  One for say, stuff like Lifetime, etc, and the other for sports, etc.  Buy certain channels for one receiver, different for another.

I got rid of comcast 5 years ago and never looked back. They create a monopoly and nothing is done about it. Then they start charging what ever they want.

WHY ARE THERE COMMERCIALS WHEN YOU ARE PAYING FOR TV?
