I'll be the first to admit I'm biased against Taurus, based on all the negative press and feedback on their other products. I've been hearing people, some of whom I'd consider reliable and knowledgeable, rave about their 24/7 pistol though. Did Taurus get this one right? Thoughts, feedback?

I had one in .45 - it was finicky about ammo, but it was comfortable. I sold it, and bought a Taurus Tracker .357 instead. That's been 100% jolly fun.

Trigger is crap, a squishy DAO that doesn't break clean and has a poor reset.  Basically the gun is a great shortcut to developing awful trigger discipline habits.  Once you get used to the Taurus, you'll be mashing down madly on every gun you shoot and your accuracy will suck even with a nice 1911.

EDIT: I understand they now have a "Pro" model that acts like a DA/SA, where the first trigger pull is heavy and crappy and subsequent trigger pulls are somewhat better.  Why anyone would do this with a striker fired pistol is beyond my comprehension.

Negev, please compare the Taurus 24/7 to other pistols you have owned and shot.  How does it compare in terms of recoil, accuracy, trigger feel, ergonomics, reliability?  What other pistols have you owned that you would rate worse than the 24/7?

I bought one in .40 after shooting one in 9mm.  Friend bought his and brought it to my house.  We took it out of the box and put over 300 rounds thru it, zero malfunctions.  Accuracy was good.  I have over 300 in mine with only 1 malfunction.  Second magazine last round failed to feed.  I slapped the rear of the slide it fed and has not given me a problem since.

I am a 1911 / HP-35 guy and I have to admit I like it a lot.  It has not replaced my carry gun (a commander size stainless 1911 .45 auto) but I have carried it on occasion, but it has replaced my nightstand gun.

The trigger is typical DA/SA.  It is a little mushy but no more so than most DA/SA guns I have fired. I have not found it difficult to transition back and forth to a SA handgun.  The recoil is easy for me to control with easy follow up shots.

Just one mans opinion.

Your boner is showing, might want to tuck it away.

Anywhoo, I have a 24/7 PRO DS, love it, one FTF out of 2,000rounds.

I'm not ashamed of my boner.  What I'm trying to do is establish what his basis for comparison is.  If he says "Its just as good as my USP .45", that means more to me than "its better than my Hi Point was".

Honestly...I like my Taurus OSS DS in .45acp,  feels good in hand, shoots tight groups, and with over 2000 rounds sent down range, not one single issue. I have shot WWB, Tula, Wolf, and PMC without a single problem.

The trigger took some getting used to, but once you do, it's all good.

I have a 24/7 pro in 9mm and i prefer it over my springfield xd9 sc. The trigger is a bit different but as long as you arent the type of person to fire off one mag and decide your to good to shoot this pistol, it is worth owning.

My PT-140 MPro, has the same DA/SA trigger that friends OSS and 24/7 have, and they are both great.. Here's how the pro models work (someone correct me if i'm wrong).  They have double strike, so you only really get DA when you reset the striker.  Once you chamber a round and put the thumb safety on, its in SA mode (sort of).  Mine has about the same trigger pull as my G27 without all the extra moving parts in the trigger assembly/safety.  I used to hate Taurus because they sold me a bad gun years ago, which they were never able to fix (3 trips to the taurus service place in FL on their dime, a first generation PT-101 .40).  It took a while for me to buy another and I've been satisfied.

I bought a taurus 2" .38spl revolver for my GF, 250$ gun and operates perfectly, never a problem, its light as hell, and aims and goes bang perfect,

I fail to see a problem.

My housemate has one of the 9mm compact models in dao and while I agree the trigger's lousy I don't think it's really any worse than a lot of USP compacts in double action. It's not a target pistol and the trigger's good enough for defensive distances and accuracy demands. The only issue we've run into is that Wolf ammo does not like it when you top off a magazine after chambering a round, it will fail to feed the next one every time when you do that. For some reason this ONLY happens with Wolf. We haven't tried other steel cased ammo though, and the other things run through is were generally premium grade options. We've put about a thousand rounds through it now and while I am not a real fan of the grip for myself, she really likes how it fits her and I have to admit that it's comfortable to shoot.

I wouldn't hesitate to carry it, and have on occasion. The compact is almost exactly the same size and shape as the USP-C 9/40's and we use a Galco Summer Special holster from my HK for it regularly.

Yea, Yea...Whatever

I own three, an OSS in .45, a 3rd gen PT-145 Mil Pro, and a PT-99 that I bought in 1986. All have been flawless shooters, and the PT-99 still shoots like new. That's a 23 y/o firearm.

On the other hand, I got rid of my Glock G-30 after shooting the PT-145 Mil Pro for a while, as I felt that it was a better shooter.

To each his own.

I had the PT145 MPro. It had the SA/DA trigger with doublestrike and I thought the trigger was really nice. I put it up for consignment to pay for my M&P 45.. after a month I changed my mind and went back in to take it back.. but they'd sold it.

Sights were nice too (Heinie).
