when they halted production on V after 4 episodes!!?!!! My guess is they thought it would bomb, after these four episodes, and it would be cheaper to just axe it while it was on short hiatus till January. But it appears they have a new hit on their hands, and it's going to be off the air for FOUR FRICK'n MONTHS!!!!! Thanks alot ABC, you have now fallen into the ranks of FOX with Firefly/TSCC + CBS with Jericho + NBC for Life as a broadcaster who ruined a great show that will be canceled after one run. Who knows how much the series will change with the following 9 episodes with new people in charge! And I can sure as heck predict that numbers will be nothing like they will be this month. I'm also willing to bet it will air against Chuck, which is bad for both shows. This sucks... |

Quoted: Bah, I'd already seen the first 8 minutes on Hulu. It got much better after that.Like many others, I lost interest after about 10 minutes and deleted it off my dvr. Quoted: They panicked because they saw that it might be percieved as anti-the one... I hate to say it, but this is what I really think sparked the freeze. |

Here is what wikipedia has on this: In September 2009 it was announced that four episodes of V would air in November 2009, and that the series would resume in March 2010 after the 2010 Winter Olympics to complete its 13-episode season. ABC entertainment president Steve McPherson said, "We always intended to break the show up into 'pods' to make it more of an event." As production of the fourth episode of V wrapped, it was announced on November 3, 2009 that Scott Rosenbaum had been named executive producer and showrunner of the series, with Peters and Hall remaining as executive producers. Production on the remaining nine episodes will resume in January 2010. |

I liked it quite a bit, as I understand it they are retaining all the sets and actors and will resume production is the ratings of the first four episodes warrant it.

ABC entertainment president Steve McPherson said, "We always intended to break the show up into 'pods' to make it more of an event." So why not turn it into the ultimate "event" by showing one episode every 10 years or so?
What that really means is that they commit to only a few shows (cheaper) and see what happens, if it makes it ( very few do) they have a fixed price contract in hand to make more. It saves the TV company money by not committing to duds, but kills even more shows than the traditional 20 show contract in the long run by risking the show becoming forgotten. |

It works ok for most cheap-midcost mid-season startups, like The Office, Lie to Me, Parks & Recreation, and Castle, but they generally have 7-8 episodes for their first run. What ABC should have done was have them finish at least 6-7 episodes rather than a measly 4. |

Not to mention Rome. Its not like before when there only network TV. |
OP, I guess the morning crew doesn't like V that much ![]() They probably saw how conservative/libertarian it was and pulled the plug... Or... *puts tinfoil on* The Obama administration told them to stop showing it because they thought it might lead to independent thoughts and possible revolt... *takes tinfoil off* |

Why are you watching a network program? This. The split-season asshattery is a sign of the (DIE! DIE DIE! STOMP AND PISS ON YOUR FUCKING GRAVE ALONG WITH THE MAINSTREAM NEWSPAPERS WHERE I'LL DROP A DEUCE AS I LAUGH TRIUMPHANTLY AND...) cough... Where was I? Oh yeah... Sorry.. This is a sign of the death of the mainstream media and networks. Just as is the Jay Leno show. They're hurting for ad revenue, but satellite and cable spreadding the market so thin is killing them, and DVR's is doing the rest. So the networks are doing crazy-assed stuff to try and maintain a production cost ratio to advertising revenue that keeps them in the black. As such, they're willing to do things that earn them less, but at a higher profit margin overall, or they're at least attempting to do so. All the "reality" shows is part of this phenomena. It's incredibly cheap to have 20-odd contestants work for "free" and pay only the winner a million dollars than it is to pay every actor in a popular show like Friends or Seinfeld millions of dollars each etc. This is also the reasoning behind the "Jay Leno Experiment". NBC has essentialy conceded defeat at the 9-central/10-eastern timeslot, and decided to try out the much cheaper talk-show/variety format where they pay Jay a few million bucks, and everyone else appearing on the show gets basic actor's union scale. They're hoping by having lower but consistent ratings year round when the rest of the dramas are in repeats etc. they'll make a decent profit margin. Of course, even that's failing.

The writers were not Obamabots and ABC didn't like the illustration of how crazy blind followers of hope are. |
