OK I have a .50 Beowulf and a M16 Bolt Carrier.

A friend owns a M16 registered rifle.

Is it possible to take the bolt out of the Beowulf and stick it into the M16 bolt carrier then put that upper on the M16 lower? Will it run AND would it be legal?

I just wanna see how a 3 round burst from this would feel.

Anyway I ain't trying to break the law just wondering if his lower is registered would it matter what caliber it was on or would it have to be registered in .50?

It should be legal IIRC.

Be sure to post video if you do it.

Registered receiver M16s can be run in any caliber configuration you desire so long as it is readily convertible back to what is on the F4

The lower is whats registered.... doesnt matter the caliber.  Most of us have a 9mm,  .22lr, etc etc uppers for our registered receivers.

As far as I know, it'd be legal.

The full auto registration is linked to the lower, which your buddy has.

This is the only part you would have to worry about.  If the bolt fits the carrier, then let the fun begin.

I know nothing about the .50 Beowulf, but I would have assumed the bolt carrier would have been very different than a typical .223 caliber bolt carrier.

I've seen it done, years ago, by our very own Rsteinb, who was brave enough to shoot the gun from an unsupported standing position.  The rate of fire is rediculous and the recoil from each shot significant.  The only thing that saved Rob from tipping over and putting rounds over the berm was the limited capacity and the fact that all ten rounds flew out the gun in what seemed like a fraction of a second.  That, and Rob tipped the scales at around 400lbs at the time, he's a large man.

Try prone off a bipod first.  But yes, in terms of the actual mechanics, it won't tear up the rifle or anything.

1. Range is on a mountain and the berm is the mountain so i am good there.

2. I'll do it standing up and laying down don't worry It'll be a fine example of a pure win first video post on ARFCOM.

I don't think that I would do it on a registered lower.  Thats a lot of money to experiment with.
Now if you have a dealer friend with a post sample then it would be game on.
