| My old ass crock-pot died, so I got a new one a few days ago. Made some chicken and dumplings, put the stuff in the crock-pot before work...got home and all the juices had boiled out. It was way too hot! Any way to correct it or is it just fucked? |

If you had it set on "low" and it cooked too hot, return it to the store and buy a different model. Why bother trying to fix it? Just wondering if it's a common problem and if it's fixable...It's a Rival brand, if that makes a difference. It was on low, but boiled out almost all the liquid that was in there. |

If it is too hot on the low setting there isn't anything you can do to fix it. If it is new, just take it/send it back. (got a pot roast in mine right now!) Got one in mine too at the moment. I'm giving it a second chance, if it gets too hot...I can at least take it out since I'm here. |

This is pretty common with new crock pots. You can blame the food-safety-nazi crowd for upping the temperatures. Go to Salvation Army/Goodwill and look for an older model. Thought about that too, but I don't want to burn down my apartment complex...but I guess it couldn't get hotter than this one did. We'll see, I filled it all the way up ~noon today with a pot roast. Maybe I didn't have enough liquid in it. |

You could spend a little more and get one that has programmable temperature control? I don't own this one just searched on amazon really quick. Maybe someone here has this one or something similar. Mine is an old school crock pot. http://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Beach-33967-6-Quart-Programmable/dp/B001AO2PXK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1257380846&sr=8-1 |
