[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Anti Obama-V (Page 1 of 2)

| So was it just me, or did V seem particularly Anti-Obama? |
|
Well, the V's were offering universal health care.
It is not too surprising. Many science fiction authors are conservative and libertarian. The only one I ever knew to run for public office was Heinlein. Strangely enough, he ran as a democrat. Though, to be fair, that was many decades ago. I missed the original. I guess I was just having too much fun back then. I will probably watch this one. I don't watch much else on tv, and with the present day climate, it might be interesting. |

Lol, i kinda caught a bit of that too...
"spreading hope"
"change is rarely easy" The thing that's weird is all the roles are reversed...John is a lady and the news reporter is guy... Speed ETA: on second thought, the producers/writers of this show probably have no idea of the similarities WE see in a story about Fascist overlords taking over behind the guise of free health care and peaceful unity; using propaganda and promoting "service"etc... |
|
Definitely.
A) No tough questions from the press. B) Obama pretended to be a Moderate to gain our trust, but underneath his skin of moderatism was a full blown liberal. C) Universal Health Care is put forward to encourage devotion in order to enslave. Yeah, totally anti-Obama. Catchy slogans. Gaining the support of youth. |

Morena Baccarin and Alan Tudyk are both in it. Both were in Firefly.
It is worth watching just for Morena Baccarin, though I admit I did like her better with long hair. Not that she doesn't look good with short hair. She does. It doesn't even bother me that she is some kind of reptilian underneath. I wonder how long they have been working on this, anyway? |

There is a ton of "gender" reversal also in this one. It is not paying dogma to the original but I'm digging it. Quoted: Lol, i kinda caught a bit of that too... You lie! |

I mean the press not asking tough ?'s, them trying to take over through universal health care, the "Bryan Williams" reporter who is told not to ask any tough questions and him going along with it. It all seems very apropos. this. good start to the series. |

I called that one a couple days ago –– about the original, not the new one:

Great story. Watching it right now. Cheesy, yes, but you could substitute Obama for The Supreme Commander. |

So was it just me, or did V seem particularly Anti-Obama? The only hint of that came from the kid being obsessed with the V's. Even then it's a stretch. Are you kidding? Did you sleep through the whole thing? http://www.imdb.com/video/hulu/vi3635348761/ "...our message of peace and hope..." |

What about "sacrifice of ones principles for the good of the collective is a noble cause" and "we don't divide by state or country,we believe in a global governance for the good of the people"...Not too subtle! That was my only real gripe with the show, its lack of subtlety. ETA, on second thought, that may be a good thing. |

I thought it was very good. It had a BSG feel to it. They definitely made many remarks that mirrored the current administration's political positions. "Hope, change, the greater good, universal healthcare, softball questions by the media, the youth & the masses blindly supporting them. Who is the director? Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Anyone want to make a better looking copy of this? I found the V image at the abc show website. http://inlinethumb54.webshots.com/41141/2679689680072293250S600x600Q85.jpg |
