Quoted: 223Remington run through a 222Remington die? Close Back story...another brother was having car problems. Turned out to be a gasket that only the dealer has for about $40. A roll of gasket material, a razor blade and this case was all that was needed to turn the roll of gasket material into the gasket needed. I needed a 7mm hole punch, didn't have one in the set but I have a bunch of scrap .30-'06 cases AND a .257 Roberts sizing die. Lubed it, ran it up as far as possible and voila, a punch long enough to reach through the holes...had to knock 6 holes out and then cut the 4 internal passages. I made up 2 more as alignment pins to ink the gasket to know where to cut. Use stamp pad ink, applied with a Q-Tip to the sealing surfaces, then using the 3 cases as alignment pins, press the gasket to transfer the ink. Worked perfectly. Now his car is running great. Turns out this is the EGR/water outlet flange and it has been BURNING coolant during EGR cycles . Drained out less than a gallon of coolant, replaced with 1-1/2 gallons. Also replaced the thermostat as the old one did not open but 1/4". New one opened over 1/2". When in doubt, replace the thermostat. It should open to at least 1/2 diameter of the valve plate. |

Look on the bottom, you should be able to figure it out. |

Quoted: Now how in the fuck could someone guess that??? Just messing with you. And giving a handy tip in case you need to make a gasket. But since you haven't caught Deuce Fever (yet), chances are you won't need to make any gaskets. But if you have an older car...damn metrics. I also needed to replace all 6 bolts on that coolant outlet cover since 2 broke off . Corrosion and I managed to extract them with Vise Grips. |
