Ok, we're in a new place, the hot water spiget for the wash room has a leak so I we're not using it yet...but I have the hose connected so it doesn't become a cat toy...I notice today that water is leaking from the spiget, even after I verify it is off...so I start playing around and realize water is coming from the washer UP the hot water hose....wtf, over? Is this normal? Does it need the hot water turned on? |

Washers don't contain hot water on the other side of their in-let valve. Easiest way to deal with this is to Buy a new spigot. do you have galvanized pipe or copper pipe? Shut off the water flow at on the discharge side of your water heater. If there is no valve on the discharge side, maybe there's on on the intake side. If so, you'll need to either unplug your water heater if electric or turn off the gas to it if it uses gas. (This might be a good time to simply drain the water heater to clean it out as well.) If there is no water valve to isolate the water heater, you'll have to shut off the water to your "Place" if it isn't an apartment. Get a bucket or pan and towels. Drain the water from the hose into the bucket or pan. Wipe up spillage. Remove old spigot, replace with new spigot. Turn on water flow again. (Turn on water if necessary.) Good luck! |

No no, the water is draining from the washer through the hot water hose.... eta- no problems fixing the spiget, just haven't gotten to it yet with school and unpacking, it's a low priority... |

No no, the water is draining from the washer through the hot water hose.... eta- no problems fixing the spiget, just haven't gotten to it yet with school and unpacking, it's a low priority... Does this happen while the washer is on or while the washer is not being used? Normally, the hoses that connect from the service lines to the washer are only good for 5 years. Then they'll need to be replaced. |
