I just posted on craigslist a utility trailer for $200. It is homemade trailer with some horribly ugly rails on it painted john deere green. Within 30 min I had 2 people wanting it and the first guy to rodger up bought it. I have had 2 more in the last 20 min before i could delete the add.
My question is: did I ask enough money for it? It is a good trailer but I thought it would take weeks to sell. Anyone know? Im thinking I coulda had more |

it's a fine line - if you were asking what you thought it was worth, and someone paid you, then you did well. Consider yourself fortunate.
Many of those inquiries are tire-kickers (almost half, in my experience) and most of the rest are perpetual deal seekers who just HAVE to negotiate half off of what you're asking - no matter what it is or how good the deal was from the get-go. Sooo... you could ask more, but with exponentially increasing hassle and BS. Consider yourself lucky.

not seeing the trailer maybe you could've have gotten more for it.
I did the same thing with a boat a couple weeks ago had a bunch of responses ––which made me think it was priced too low. I made a quick clean cash sale though ––boat was not running. I could have dropped 250ish to get it going and made another 500 buckish but just wanted it gone sometimes I have found a quick clean kill is better than haggling and dickering –– you know sell, take the cash and move on. |

Ya I made a quick clean cash sale. I am happy with it. I cant make another, I had help on that one and I no longer have that option or I would definately build another and ask more. |

Whenever you sell something, never look back. Always do your research before you sell something. Your time and effort is worth something. Spending weeks meeting people to look at your trailer and for some of them to case your house is costly.
At the begining of the housing slump, I need to sell an extra house I had that the kids stayed in when they were in college. I researched what houses were selling for in the hood and found out that there was only one or two a month selling, the average listing time was over 9 months, and there was a selection of 14 to 18 houses at any given time. The house were just about the same as it was a townhome complex. I listed mine for 5% below what everyone was asking and sold it within 25 days. I caught a bunch of guff from the neighbors who were making $1,200 monthly payment because they felt I drove down the prices. The truth is I am a busy man, I did not want to make the sale of that townhouse a central effort for the coming months, and when I added up what everyone else was paying out, I was thousands ahead. Be happy you sold it and move on. |

Also, Craigslist patrons are notorious for saying they want something and telling you they will buy it, and then never follow through with the purchase. Just so ya know. I just sold a "93 Grand Cherokee abouy 10 minutes ago on CL .So many ASSHATS do NOT show up- .By far the worst part.Good place to make a few bucks though!
