I ordered some stuff from these guys back a few months ago and after getting backorder notices I canceled(duck hunting stuff).
I figured Id give them another shot and ordered a Safariland 6005 G19 holster and sure as hell I get another backorder notice. Does this company have a good reputation? Im wondering if I should cancel my order but they had the best price on the holster in the color/model I wanted |

Quoted: They've always been superb for me...but there've been a few questions from buyers lately that make you go, "hmmmm....." HH I'm not sure exactly what that means, I assume you mean from customers... Regardless, I will add to my previous statement that I haven't shopped there in awhile, probably at least a year. Things do change. Hope it isn't the case. ![]() |

They have really good prices, but they seem to be a "drop-ship" company - you order form them ––> they forward the order to the mfr ––> then the mfr sends it to you from their warehouse.
Happened to me when I ordered some Blackhawk stuff and I ended up calling Blackhawk cust.svc and the guy was nice enough to explain it to me. He said that dealing with optics planet is pretty smooth as long as the companies have the items in stock. |

They carry a pretty large line of stuff so having it all in stock wouldnt be very cost effective. Good to hear positive stuff. I hope I get my holster |

A couple years ago I ordered a SureFire flashlight mount from them. It took something like over two months to get it. I was pissed. I'll never deal with them again if I can at all help it. |
| Great luck with them I ordered something yesterday $10 cheaper than anywhere else and I got it today, less than 24 hours later. Who can complain about that. If something is on backorder its on backorder nothing they can do about it, if you find it somewhere else just cancel your BO. |

Funny you should post this. I recently had a similar problem trying to order a Maxpedition Condor II pack (foliage green) and their website fails to inform if it is out of stock until after you post the order. After waiting for 6 weeks I cancelled it and ordered through GoTimeGear (an arfcom partner, no less I'd say if they're a pretty good company to deal with, but they should work on minimizing this sort of problem i.e. displaying an out-of-stock notice on items.

I ordered scope rings from them with a debit card and apparently they didn't have the item. It could be because as mentioned, they are a "drop ship" outfit. They put a "hold" on my debit card for the purchase price for a few days but the rings never shipped. Apparently the hold was going to lapse, so they put another hold on the amount and... you guessed it, I was charged for the rings I never received inspite of cancelling my order. I tried through customer service to get it reversed and couldn't. I had to do it through my bank after a lot of hassle.
Never again will I order from Optics Planet. |
| I've ordered quite a few things from Optics Planet with success and fast shipping. The only thing that did tick me of once though was when I ordered a storm case for my AR and they never notified me it was back ordered. I did a "live chat" on their website and the lady canceled it for me. From the above posts I think they have to sync their stock with availability on their site better. |
