I never really thought of the need for one..  but damn.. they do make them..  

Ive had a beer or two explode on me before.. guess this wont stop that?  



Explosion-Proof Refrigerator;

 It looks like a conventional refrigerator, but this model can safely store flammable or explosive materials because all wiring and contacts are encased to prevent sparks. The hermetically sealed, explosion-proof compressor with 1/6 hp is in a sturdy steel cabinet. The exterior is in baked white acrylic, while the interior is in porcelain enamel. It features three shelves on the refrigerator door and three interior shelves. The separate freezer compartment also includes a door shelf. The unit must be wired directly to a wall. UL-listed for Class 1 Group C and D materials. Temperature range: refrigerator: 20–59°F; freezer: -15 to +32°F. Size: refrigerator compartment: 20 3/4″W x 41 1/2″H x 14″D; freezer compartment: 19″W x 12 3/4″H x 15″D; overall size: 23 1/4″ x 63″H x 24 1/2″D.

Not sure I could sleep in a house if the fridge wasn't explosion proof.  But, then again, you could put the fridge out at night.

They're used in research labs.  Some flammables need to be kept refrigerated, like phenol-chloroform-isoamyl alcohol (for DNA purification).
