MOTHERFUCKING TAKEDOWN DETENT SPRING AND TAKEDOWN DETENT!
My fucking build was going along swimmingly. All the rollpins went in fine (with the exception of the motherfucking trigger guard rollpin - my hammer solved that sumbitches problem without fucking breaking a sweat), I got the bolt catch in without fucking up the receiver, I even got the pivot spring and detent in fine. I'm almost finished. I'm on the last fucking step. What do I hear? *ting* GOD FUCKING DAMNIT YOU COCK JUGGLING THUNDERCUNT! THE LAST FUCKING THING I NEEDED ON EARTH WAS A FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT 9MM LOWER DECIDING THAT IT NEEDED TO ACT LIKE A MOTHERFUCKING M1 GARAND AND FUCKING PING SHIT OUT OF THE RIFLE! My dog could sense my fuming rage and she came over and licked my elbow. All was well. I figured I could find the spring and be on my way. I crawled around on my hands and knees like a nickel whore looking for the last hit of crack she dropped. I was desperate. FUCK! 30 minutes later I still can't find the motherfucking spring or detent. The gods laugh at me. |

Carpet? Get a magnet and sweep it across every inch like a metal detector. When you hear a faint "click", you will know you found something. This method has saved me about 15 times so far. I would but on the CMMG LPK I got the detents are made of plastic |

They are plastic, and have nice rounded tips at the ends of the brush handles. You might be able to find one with an appropriate diameter to hold you over until you can order a replacement (and a spare small parts kit to have on hand as well). Another option could be the tip of a headphones plug, if the diameter is right. You could try the little brass "follower" from inside the flint spring of a zippo lighter. IMPROVISE! Good luck. |

I forget what it is called, but there's a $2 pin at any hardware store that can fix this. It has holes drilled in it. What the fuck is it called? I have one right here. Makes detent spring installs so much easier. I made my own tool for the front pivot pin. I used an old screw driver, I'll post pics and give details in a sec. brb |

I shall prepare myself for a rant of epic proportions If not I will piss in your coffee Alright you guys, we'll see. I have a spike's stripped lower and I just ordered a parts kit so when it comes in I'll let you know how it went. And the thing is, all I ever use are a pocket knife, punch, and needle nose pliers. |

brownells with a discount and cheap shipping. no small order fee either iirc.
I have not had any trouble with the takedown parts as they are easy to see when the lower is not fully assembled. The one I forget about is the buffer retaining pin/spring when I switch or uninstall stocks. I start twisting off a buffer tube and hear a whap as the buffer retaining pin hits either a wall or the ceiling. I have done it about 5 times so far and have only lost one pin. |

...and man invented the 1 Gallon Ziploc baggy, and it was good.
When I built my (only) AR, I said to myself, "Self, you're going to launch that damn pin across the room. Work inside a Ziploc baggy." Holy hell, it saved me a LOT of hunting! I launched that sucker over and over, but never lost it.

The clevis pin tool works good, I was going to post a pic of the one I made but I CAN'T FIND MY FUCKING BLUE CUNT SPERM BURPING TOOL BOX!!!!!
Here's a pic of one I started for a friend that was still on my work bench. After you drill the hole cut off the end so its nice and flat. Push the spring and detent through the hole using a punch, rotate the tool 90 degrees until the spring & detent are no longer exposed or jumping through the hole, push in take down pin as you pull out the tool. It will snap in and your stress level should be reduced by 50 points |

Detents go flying. Sometimes.
