I was recently talking to guy I know who teaches biology and earth science at a local community college. He's of the rational belief that climate change/global warming is being blown way out of proportion and contrived to make money. He goes on to tell me that overfishing is a much more legitimate concern, but gets hardly any attention. Is there any truth to that?

Yes, overfishing is a legitimate concern whereas the climate change 'issue' is actually a non-issue.  Climate has constantly changed since the planet was formed.

It is for sure the truth that global warming is a crock of deuce

1) We haven't had warming since '98.

2) The Biffra (spelling?) hocky stick, that collaborated the Mann hocky stick, is probably fake data (more accurate, it is cherry picked data).

AGW is looking weak. Yet the Democrats are still trying to push cap and trade.

More to the point, every time US fishermen are told by .gov that a specific area is off limits, Chinese, Korean, Russian, etc. boats move right in and clean house.

Yet, seafood prices remain relatively stable, or even dropped some.  Interesting.  ^I guess due to the Chinese imports.

Your Prof is correct, but then again, it doesn't take a genius to figure out these things.

This guy just happens to be a neighbor, who seems to be rather likeminded. Never took a class with him, but maybe I should sign up and take a course next year. I always wish I'd taken more science back in college.
