There are a ton of netbooks at the $300 price point right now... and almost all have the same specs, 10" screen, 1.6Ghz Atom Processor, 1GB ram, 950 GMA onboard graphics. The only variation I ever see is size of the battery and either platter hard drive or SSD hard drive. I have an Asus 1000H I picked up last year, good little netbook. I'd rather pick a normal hard drive over SSD for a netbook since the SSD's they put in them are usually crap. |

I've got a MSI Wind. I love it. A friend of mine bought one of the Dells, and it was nothing but trouble. They had fatal problems w/ the wireless drivers, knew they had problems, and wouldn't admit it until it was diagnosed as bad, returned for repair, returned, discovered it was still inop. (Wouldn't connect to multiple good routers.) When I pushed them on it I finally got one of their people to admit there's a problem. They did everything in their power to make her wait a few more days for the "fix" which would coincidentally put her past the return period. It's going to be a long time before I buy another dell w/ their pisspoor customer support. I don't deal welll with a runaround, and I don't like being lied to. That was 10+ hours of my life I'll never get back. (A couple of hours to diagnose it as truly bad and prove it to my satisfaction. The rest on the phone w/ idiots who barely spoke english.) |
