Pretty clear what the problem is. The Soldiers in that unit have no idea what their mission is or the long term goal of the war. Anyone would be bitter under such circumstances. The people who put them there don't even know that. +1 Look at Obummer... He surrounds himself with these czars because he has no idea WTF to do. He backpedals and flip flops on everything and now it is costing lives. It hasn't been said enough on this site... Fuck Obama. |

can you blame them? They've got a douchebag CinC, who openly dislikes them. they have asked for help and Zero sits on his hands and clearly doesn't want to be in the fight. You gotta entire population that would kill them given the chance.
those guys are heroes, and having to put up with the lack of support from their leadership has got to hurt. I hope the average guy on the ground knows or feels how much the average joe back here supports and loves them for what they are doing. My heart goes out to them and my prayers are with everyone in theater. Their CinC might not support them but the rest of us do. FBO. |

Quoted: Article must be too long The arfcom crowd will just want to read the cliff notes version. That said, it was an interesting article. I don't think the chaplain's did a favor for our side as they are just helping the defeatist elements here in the US. However morale is down as 1) We are fighting more with less troops, which means more deployments. 2) The ROE is crippling. I think we need more troops in Afghanistan for a proper occupation. A case in point is that the surge in Iraq has worked. I also think that we need to do some cross border raids into the Pakistan frontier region controlled by the Taliban. Gotta put the hurt on the enemy where they live. |

I raised an eyebrow at the troop who dove for dirt at the backfire of a lorry (truck for those in rio linda) while stateside.
I'm sorry, I'm 40 years old and it's been years since I heard a vehicle backfire other than an ATV or snowmobile. I'll repeat it, it's been years since I heard a vehicle backfire. I'm thinking either the soldier or the writer is taking liberties with stories from soldiers of previous generations. That said, I'll beleive them when they say the Afghans aren't supporting them and they don't know what the mission is anymore. That's a leadership issue too. ETA- I agree with sixguns, go into Pockystan. If they were an ally, they'd have attachments to our troops and we'd be tracking down taliban elements. |
