Poor college student. I already own an AR and a couple handguns. I'm looking at a service grade M1 Garand from the CMP or a dedicated .22 AR.
Piece of history or a cheap shooter.
Pro's?
Con's?
Save for something else?

This isn't a get both situation (I know, I know.)

Well priced dedicated .22 ARs are going to be around for a long time.

M1 Garands, maybe not so much.

However, the Garand is more to feed, so that is a concern.

Get the Garand and a used 10/22.

Yep, Garand hands down for me...even though it will cost more to feed.

You won't always (hopefully) be a poor college student. You don't want to look back and wish you should have gotten one "back when they were cheap"

I think I'm gonna have to go the Garand route, and worry about a .22 AR later. I might just go with a drop in for my current AR.
