This is great news.
I was just informed via e-mail that starting next week and running through the end of the year, we are all going to have to take a 10% reduction in the number of hours that we work each week. Since I am a contractor, this equates to a 10% pay cut. As if my troubles weren't numerous enough as it is. Oh well, at least I am still employed. |

we got a notice from my main customer that they don't need my services anymore and to forward all materials to them. also, a major project was pulled we were looking at for the .gov was canceled and another one as well. 2 other proposals we were working may be dropped as well. more will come of tomorrows meetings ![]() |

Could be worse.......just last week at a hospital I used to work at the board
ordered all ancillary nonlicensed employees to give up one full week of work per month. And this came less than six months after they cut their FTE's by 10%. No industry is immune to Washington's insanity and it's fallout. |

Can your company stick you on other projects/customers, or is your job dependent on these projects? I was in the same boat back in 2001. I got the call 2 days before Thanksgiving that I had to have everything turned over by the end of the first week in December. I wound up spending January of 2002 sitting by the phone waiting to see if they were going to lay me off. Fortunately they put me to work in other regions. I was living out of a suitcase and flying to different regions but it was a steady paycheck. Hang in there man, I really hope it works out for you. |
