For whatever reason, I don't remember ever eating this stuff growing up. Lots of guys talk it up, so I grabbed some for my food stash. How do you guys like your CBH prepared? Do you add stuff to it?

what a coincidence i was just eating corned beef tonight. CBH is definitely a survival food. one thing so many people overlook when prepping is how many calories are in the canned foods they buy! for example a can of green beans has like 100 calories (each serving is like 30 is something). to survive you NEED calories. the can i had tonight (from walmart, less than $2 i believe) had 2 servings at 480 calories each! that will keep you going. one thing to consider though is it's also very high in sodium and saturated fat. |

Fried until the corned beef is nearly a crisp, and the hash is lightly browned. Then an egg over top. Good stuff, and I was going to make a thread about this last week but forgot. ![]() This way. Also, I have recently discovered Roast Beef Hash in a can. Good stuff too. |

Quoted: Don't use the canned corned beef. Go to a good deli and buy fresh, thick sliced corned beef. Cut it into small cubes on your cutting board. Yeah. I was going to say that real corned beef hash doesn't come in a can. For that matter, a whole corned brisket is incredibly savory. Mmmm.... I think I need to go to the store tomorrow for some sandwich fixin's. |

chill the can over night. When you open it, It should be solid and fall right out.
cut it into small discs. fry it in a pan like sausage patties until its crispy on the outside. put it on a slice of toast.....then cover it with a fried egg......at thar is sum good eatin. |

Corned beef hash is great. Add a couple eggs, maybe some ketchup.
Just don't eat it if your sick. If you puke it up, you'll never want to eat it again, at least for quite awhile. It's one of those foods that looks exactly the same coming up as it did going down and that did it for me. I couldn't even look at the stuff for a couple years. |

I was also without this wonderful food growing up. My wife introduced me to it, and I fucking love it! Its my go to Sunday morning meal. Its also great in a cast iron skillet while camping |

When you make a corned beef dinner (potatos, carrots, cabbage and Guinness) make twice as much as you think you will need.
All leftovers get cubed (omit xtra cabbage and in ARFCOM fashion there's no Guinness left) - no need to use a grinder and make mush. Chop an onion. Saute it in lots of butter. Add cubed potatos/carrots and pan fry till slightly crispy. Add cubed corned beef and crisp the whole shootin match up. Eggs over easy on top with toast. This stuff kicks scrapples ass.............. |
