| I know there is an upgrade for Maglites but even after search candle power forums I cannot find it. I have 3 old 2D and 1 3D maglite that I would like to covert! |

There's the Maglite official drop in...
and then there is the Malkoff 200+ lumen drop in. Pure awesomeness I'd go for the Malkoff, anytime. He is good people, and his products are second to none. |
| The cheapest way to get 200 lumens with your maglite would be to buy a replacement 6 cell bulb(which are about $2.00) and 3 CR123 batteries ($10 or so) of course its incandescent and a battery sucker. Malkoff Devices drop ins are just plain badass. I have a Malkoff MD2 with M60 and love it. The brightness and runtime with that setup is second to none. Not 100% sure but I think the Maglite LEDs for those sizes give you more run time but the incan bulbs are brighter. |

Regular price, the upgrades are kinda meh and I'd skip. Except a Malkoff - awesomeness.
Said that, I do have the LED upgrade in one, but I bought it very cheap on clearance. It makes the light more useful, but without serious modification it lacks good heatsinking to make it really impressive. The newer LED full flashlighs are more impressive, you'll get the same or higher output with a much smaller package. |

Easy as going to you local Home Depot. They carry the Upgrade. The "official" MagLED upgrade is a fucking abortion! It's not properly heat-sinked. And while it's fairly bright (est. 120 lumens) initially, within 30sec. to 1 min, as it heats up, its output drops to 1/2 to 1/3 of the original brightness. There are a number of better options out there that give lots more lumens that are better sinked. John |

I was using my 3D Maglite with the Malkoff conversion the other night, and my neighbor called me to tell me that someone was driving around in the field behind my house. Imagine his surprise when I showed him all that light was coming from a Maglite. The Malkoff conversion isn't really cheap, but it's definitely worth it, IMHO. |
