I remember the one where a guy who owned a gunshop in FL(IIRC) used some sub-gun to stop a group from clearing out his store at night but I could swear there was another story about someone using a class 3 gun in a HD type shooting. Anyone have an idea?

I know of 3 incidents: Gary Fadden who worked for HK and gunned down a road rage psycho with an AC556, Harry Beckwith was the gun store owner who used an AR and SW Model 76, and an individual that used a WWII amnesty gun (I believe an MP-40) to hold burglars for the cops at his home.

Harry Beckwith is the one you are referring to I believe.

He got off on all charges at trial.  They said a huge contibuting factor to this was that he could have easily killed every one of them and didn't.

I guess I would have gotten the chair

Just read the Gary Fadden one. What a load of crap about trying to pin 1st degree murder on him just because it was a class 3.
