Would / could you expect to get acceptable accuracy out of a carbine AR with an Eotech/ Aimpint? I currently have two AR's, both carbine length, chrome-lined barrels. I don't expect sniper-like accuracy from them, and I have gotten a little better with them after trips to the range. I was just wondering with reflex-type optics what you could expect when it comes to mid-lonng-range shots.

About 3 MOA @(not talkin about 3 shot groups) 100 from prone w/ m193. That's about what i do. I can shoot much smaller with magnification but there is nothing as fast on target as a holo sight. I use the Eo 552.

I got a 3 inch 5 shot group at 100 yards using irons, prone unsupported, noveske midlength, wolf 62gr

I can shoot man sized steel targets out to 500 yards with my AR-15 with my aimpoint no problem.

 What kind of ammo?

I'm about to start building an M4gery for myself using a new Colt 1/7 twist barrel.  Using handloads that shoot incredibly well in my A2,  but with a 1/9 twist,

being capable of one ragged hole at 100 yards, I can't help but wondering what I might expect out of the M4gery if I'm shooting from sandbags with a good

scope.

I like to know the ultimate accuracy potential of a rifle as well as real world accuracy.   It kind of helps me diagnose the cause of any groups that fall short

of my admittedly insanely high expectations.

If I were shooting in the 10 ring at 1000 yards,  I'd still want to tighten up the group so every shot was an X in the same hole instead.   Unreasonable?  Yeah,

but that's how I am.   My best groups make me happy but I'm never satisfied.  I always want better.   I want to shoot all day and have just one tiny little hole

to show for it.

1,000 yards with an M4? Seriously? Now, I will be the first to admit I still have alot to learn about the weapon platform, but I have to admit I didn't thik this platform was capable, much less effective for a 1,000-yard shot.

I'm not saying it is, and I know that's beyond its effective range.  What I'm saying is that what I WANT is one-hole accuracy at ANY range,  with ANY gun.

Of course I can't always get that.

My longest range rifle is my Mark 12 Mod 1 which is a type that is supposed to be effective to 800 meters when using MK 262 77 gr. SMK ammo.

I don't have any ranges available to me that allow me to shoot HALF that far.   There is one range with a 600 yard line not too far away from me but

I'm not a member of that club and reportedly, that club is rife with political factions and lots of infighting between them.  I don't care for that sort of nonsense.

To me, it's simple:  If it has a trigger and a barrel, it's a gun.  All guns should be allowed at all ranges.  Period.

Not sure but when I was in the service, we had no problems dropping Ivan at 300m with M4s.  The local range I go to goes out to about 350m but I don't use the EOtech'd carbine, I tend to use the scoped rifle length AR.

at 100 yards, I did a 7" group of 30 shots in 35 seconds off a bench.   Better if I take my time, just wanted to see what I could do with 1 second per shot, went a little over the time limit.

16" stag arms, bushnell halo sight. XM193

Minute-of-center-of-mass out to 500 yards which is far enough away that the tiny .223 ain't doing much and it's damn near impossible to see a target unless they're wearing florescent orange clothing out on a Kansas wheat field.

i love my eotech 517, can keep the weapon on target during consecutive shots.

 What kind of ammo?

I just use standard cheap 55grn ammo, like winchester, wolf, monarch.
